My husband and I hadn’t been back to this place after a year and our negative experience the last time. But we decided to give it a go, since I really do like the pizza. Last Sunday, August 2nd we had our dogs with us so we called ahead to see if it was okay to bring them. Dogs are okay there as long as you are sitting by this spot next to the tree which was good. We get to the restaurant and our waiter is a young guy, (I’m really sorry I didn’t catch your name) but he stated he was new. He provided excellent service, he always checked on us even though we were outside, we never had to ask for a refill because he always offered first, when he’d come out to check on us , he’s say hey guys pizza is going to be about this much longer. Which my husband and I were quite surprised because they never usually do that and we were excited because we felt like it had changed, we had a good time , the pizza was amazing, then service was phenomenal. You sir deserve 5 stars. We left happy with the positive experience. Fast forward to today, Sunday August 9th it was my friends birthday and we decided to take her to this awesome restaurant. We are greeted by the same young guy. Excited that he would be our waiter again, but we quickly found out it wasn’t.. and man how I deeply regret not asking him to be our waiter. No, the waiter we got, was some lady who seems irritated at the world. She asked us our drink order, after we already had our drinks and then walked away, came back about 10 mins for our food order. In my order , I asked for a regular Caesar salad and not a side salad. Cause I wanted to share with my group. Still was brought a side salad. And she walked away so fast I had to wait 20 mins until I was able to grab her attention. I explained to her I asked for the regular salad so I can share with my friends. She brought us another side salad but wasn’t going to charge us for it, and acted as if I’m suppose to be grateful? No, I just wanted what I had asked for not another side salad that I won’t be charged for , as if it were my mistake. Then the pizzas come out, she brings us 4 plates for our party of 5, before she has the chance to leave because I don’t want to wait forever, I asked for another plate. I don’t even think the food took as long as it took her to come back to our table for refills and our check. I wanted to get a dessert for my friends birthday but even that took forever, when she finally came back I said scratch the dessert just give us the bill. Another 20 min wait for our bill, which she charged us a bottle of whiskey, which I probably should have just taken cause you need lots of patience or lots of liquor to loose track of time. I mostly felt bad because it was our friends birthday and I was raving to her about this place, and we were all getting frustrated. We ended up walking up to the register because I was really done with waiting. Which every employee took the opportunity to not ask if we needed help. She finally noticed us standing there, we asked about the liquor charge on our tab, and settled on our tab with the correct prices. And honestly, good thing you added on the gratuity fee on our bill even though I felt the amount charged was not deserved through the terrible service we received. This server, probably gets 1 star and that’s just being way too generous. Moral of this whole story, don’t go there unless your server is the young new dude who has more motivation and drive or you have a time machine to fast forward waiting forever for a refill or to get your order corrected or you’re just drunk enough to make stupid decisions, and walk into this place. Also don’t ever take people for special occasions here , you will just stress the whole time on how terrible the service is. On a postive note, if you ever want to practice amazing patience,...
Read moreTwo stars mainly because the Caesar side salad carried the rest of the food and the delivery to the hotel was fast. Pretty much everything was bland. The Brie puff pastries tasted more like puff than anything else even with the good amount of Brie in them. The Bacon Mac & Cheese with chicken and Chicken Teriyaki Fettuccine didn’t have enough flavor to merit a meh. The bacon in the Mac & Cheese was the only hint of flavor. I ended up eating only the chicken & the bacon because it’s a cardinal sin to throw away bacon. The penne noodles & the fettuccine noodles were rubbery. The sauce on the Bacon Mac & Cheese was completely flavorless. Also, the mix of teriyaki and Alfredo sauces had just enough hints of a flavor profile so as to make it completely a completely weird combination. Neither sauce had enough oomph to carry the dish. The garlic bread it was served with was a pale imitation of the real thing. The apple crumble didn’t have a passing familiarity with an apple, crumble, or spice flavor. I hope that the pizza and other dishes had enough of a flavor profile to warrant ordering them. As it is, I wouldn’t want to take the chance that the rest of the menu would be so distinctly flavorless. I wish I could say the items were too salty, too creamy, or overwhelmed by one taste or another. Doing so would require that there actually be a flavor with which to make it stand out and at...
Read moreWe had a great experience at Smoky Mountain Pizzeria! The food was delicious, the service was great, and the atmosphere was very nice.
THE FOOD:
We couldn't decide between all the appetizers, so we settled on the Motherlode. We basically devoured it before I could get a picture. My favorite was the Brie Kisses (I could've drank the boysenberry jam), the kids loved the mozz sticks, the artichoke dip was yummy, and the fries were a fan fav.
We all loved our entrees! The calzone was filling and cooked perfectly; the pork flat iron was surprisingly moist and so flavorful; the salmon was slightly overcooked, but the sauce was delectable and the salad was perfect (an awesome dish for someone on Keto); and the kids' pizzas were the perfect size!
We splurged on dessert, which we don't normally do. The kids loved the sundaes and the adults devoured the blackberry brulee.
THE SERVICE: It must've been a fluke, but there weren't very many people in there despite it being a Saturday (we were there during off season... end of ski season, not quite summer); and we were seated right away and had a great server.
THE ATMOSPHERE: We had a larger party, and they seated us in a little room on our own, and it was perfect for us.
We had a 9.5/10 experience (dock half a point because the salmon was slightly dry) and we would absolutely eat here again and recommend...
