Worth noting that the recent one star reviews are not from people who actually stayed at the hotel.
We had a nice time staying at the Limelight over MLK weekend. We ultimately chose it over Sun Valley Lodge because of its convenience to the town.
Amenities: The shuttles to the mountain were consistent. The ski lockers were right by the shuttle and well heated and ventilated. The pool and hot tubs were never too crowded. Most of the staff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet wasnât amazing, but there were lots of options and they were good about replenishing things.
Room: The room was nice. We enjoyed having the kitchenette, large bathroom, and space for shoes and jackets (with a bench) by the door. The heat was having some issues - at one point it was 66 degrees even though we had it set at 71. We also were in a âGrand Deluxeâ king room which did have some pretty views of mountains but was mostly facing the Best Western Plus across the street and also faced Main Street which was noisy at times.
Check out: I want to qualify this by saying that I donât expect hotels to always be able to accommodate late checkouts, but this situation rubbed me the wrong way. Basically, donât expect the hotel to be accommodating of late check outs. At the suggestion of the front desk when we told them our schedule, we requested a late checkout. We wanted to fit in a bit more skiing before our afternoon flight and were told we should be able to check out at 1 pm but to confirm with the front desk the morning of our departure. We checked in the morning and were then told by a different staff remember that the latest they could check us out was 12 pm and that we could leave our stuff in the hallway next to the front desk and shower in the single stall near the pool once we got back from skiing. Our keys also stopped working and the front desk was unable to extend any key access. We then sat by the front desk waiting for our airport shuttle and watched other people check out as late as 1:15. I can respect a policy, but it wasnât consistent and the woman at the front desk wasnât friendly about it. We were also checking out on a Monday so itâs hard to believe other people were immediately trying to check in. Additionally, we were unable to schedule a shuttle to the airport at the time we requested and were instead given options way too early or cutting it too close (even though no one else ended up being on our too-early shuttle).
Despite the annoyance at the end of the trip, we are happy we chose the Limelight. Itâs worth noting that this is a very kid and dog friendly hotel, which can be a pro or con depending what youâre looking for. The Sun Valley Lodge is probably more of a luxury experience, but the Limelight is a good option for something still on the nicer side with some added...
Read moreA very large, modern, contemporary hotel in the area. We stayed 3 nights while in the area for a conference. The room we had was one of the most interesting we've stayed in and we felt was very European influenced in style and design after we were in Berlin in 2009. Our large room had a 55 inch Samsung TV, two king beds with storage under the beds. A table and short couch with a chair near the window and near the two Ethernet ports for laptop plug in. WiFi in the room was generally good, Speedtest results were almost 10 Mbps download, almost 2 Mbps upload. WiFi is open as many places are so I used a VPN. I saw the router point in the hallway towards the elevator. Every morning there is breakfast provided for guests, it was pretty good. Variations of egg dishes and meats as well as oatmeal, bagels, cereal etc. available, we ate there before going to our conference out at the Sun Valley resort, about a five to ten minute drive. Parking is under the building and on check in you are given a remote to open the entry door. Parking down there is pretty tight, we were in our Prius, but would not have wanted to try parking our truck down there! We liked the 'in town' location of the Limelight and every evening walked around the town some. My wife really liked the provided lotion, body wash and shampoo in the shower. They are in good sized pump bottles on the wall in the shower and lotion and soap on the bathroom sink. The bathroom sink is very nice, a large trough with two faucets, one on each end of the trough. The toilet is in its own pocket door room in the shower area. The door to the bathroom was a 'barn door' style slider with a large mirror on the bedroom side of the door. There was a lot of storage in the room and it is apparent the room is meant for several people to be sharing the room. A fridge, hidden in the cabinetry, a small sink even some dishes and silverware. This is a pricey place! And I think that's why it is geared for multiple people staying here for ski trips to make it affordable. We were talking with an employee and were told (April 2017) rooms are from about one fifty a night to over eight hundred a night! The upper floors were still being finished at the time...
Read moreI didnât stay here, nor have I stayed here. Iâm a local resident who has frequented and spent my money here regularly in the lounge and outdoors, listening to local music. I show up tonight with some friends to see a local artist entertain, not the first time but definitely the last. We were told there would be a half hour waiting time, waited beyond that. When I finally pressed why the wait, we were told there was a burst pipe and they were told to not not seat anybody other than hotel guests. I then asked if they would call us when they can seat people. I understand the panic they may have had and I also understand they may be understaffed. I was told they would text us and we were guaranteed a seat as we were the first on the list. Fast forward to hours later, had a great time at other local venues. My car is parked at the limelight and Iâm wondering why they never reached out as promised so I walk in and ask for a manager. Instantly there were about 5 people outside of myself involved in the conversation. I inquired as to why so many staff had to be involved (mind you this is before I mention my complaint), 3 or more scattered and I was told they were both managers⌠Christina and Megan. Iâm still stumped as to why it took two managers not even knowing my complaint. Long story short, I mentioned as I had before that it would have been nice to know they werenât seating anybody other than hotel guest prior to my drive from Hailey. Megan then said, âyou can go back to Hailey and be seated where youâd like.â If you understand the staffing shortage here then I do believe youâd understand understand Hailey is where the working class lives and where youâd find your staff. I sincerely hope aspen skiing co does a much better job in vetting their âmanagersâ as Megan showed zero skill set. I definitely will...
