Our family has stayed at the Tyrolean Lodge in Ketchum ID in 2018/2019and again this summer (2021). We absolutely LOVE this hotel!
The rooms are extremely clean, the beds so comfortable if it weren’t for the scenery I would struggle to get up! That said, the included breakfast is second to none and not to be missed! The location is peaceful and quiet, off the highway enough to have no road noise, but also easy access to Ketchum (which is adorable)
The pool and hot tub are very well-maintained and the perfect temperature. You can swim or relax there, watching the paragliders sail down from the top of the Bald Mountain Ski Resort. The lodge is situated such that one side and the pool have nothing impeding the view of the mountain and the landing field. There is also a walking/running/biking trail within feet of the lodge parking lot.
Another of my favorite features of this lodge is the lobby. It has this wonderful sitting area with comfy sofas, chairs, and a game table. There’s a beautiful fireplace and a 24 hour coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar. A large selection of board games are available on the shelves. Our family has had so much fun playing games there, old school style, in a beautiful and rustic lobby without distractions of video games or a loud TV.
In 2019 our son broke his elbow in a bike accident in Redfish and we found ourselves racing back to Ketchum, in need of a place to stay during peak season. This lodge is Best Western, but family run by wonderful family who truly care about the guests and the lodge. The were remarkable in helping us and providing a room on the fly. We were SO GRATEFUL! It had been an extremely stressful day and we were all exhausted. In this day and age it is becoming rarer and rarer to find the dedication and kindness we were shown.
If I could give the Tyrolean Lodge in Ketchum ID more than 5 stars I would. I can’t recommend it...
Read moreI just wish to let future guests know about the hotel policy. We had a reservation for arrival on July 5. On July 2nd I had a mishap with my already bad back and found we would not be able to travel. I phoned early Wednesday to tell them we needed to cancel due to this. This was 72 hours notice. Most hotels accept 24 to 36 hours notice and refund your money. We’ve traveled a great deal and this is the first hotel that said due to it being the busy season they needed 30 days notice and only under special circumstances could they refund the money. It wasn’t even 30 days ago that I made the reservation. The front desk clerk was very nice, but very difficult to understand due to her charming accent. I informed her that I would let other future guests know this outrageous policy. Even though I’m told how busy they are I’m told I still have to pay because they didn’t find a guest for my reservation. I find this to be very poor customer relations. Naturally when we are able to go to Ketchum we will not patronize this hotel. I told the clerk I was going to post this review and she said fine that she would write her response that I knew this policy in advance. I thought that the policy of under “special circumstances “ would apply here. Have no idea what that would be. Maybe the person has to be dead and then they will refund when you supply a death certificate. I’m retired and every dollar counts. This $400 is...
Read moreOur stay here wasn't so great, especially for the price. The highlights: The continental breakfast was bigger than most and the room size was decent. The negatives: The hallways are dark, old, musty, and smell like old cigarettes. The pool was a fine size but it hadn't been skimmed in a while. The fridge in our room was not turned on when we went to put food in it that evening, so we had to turn it on and wait for it to cool down. The AC was fighting to keep our room cool, but it was still 72-74 degrees and muggy inside. The pool towels were very old. The staff were "quirky" just as another reviewer mentioned...the service wasn't very professional. Staff members sitting by the pool during their breaks, staff smoking in a little "courtyard" right next to the pool area off and on all day long. What appeared to be the resident manager or something of the sort (two women) were just hanging out in their pajamas smoking at the front patio tables right near the lobby entrance, and lastly (as far as staff goes) what appeared to be the teenagers of the on site manager or long term tenants that were hanging out at the pool having a huge splash fight while my 10 yr old daughter was swimming...which resulted in me getting soaked from my pool chair while reading a book. I've never stayed at a hotel that cost $350+ a night where the staff clearly had full run of the place like this. We will be staying...
