In the bustling heart of Kettering, Ohio, on the well-trodden path of Dorothy Lane, lies a culinary gem that has been delighting locals & visitors alike for years - Troni's Italian Restaurant. This family-owned and operated establishment is more than just a restaurant; it's a home away from home, a gathering place where friends meet, families celebrate, and food lovers indulge.
With its authentic Italian cuisine, warm hospitality, and charming atmosphere, Troni's is a beacon of comfort & tradition. Whether ur a Kettering local, a visitor passing thru, or a devoted foodie on the hunt for ur next great meal, a visit to Troni's is one that I recommend you don't miss out on!
Stepping into Troni's Italian Restaurant is akin to stepping into a rustic Italian home, complete with the warm, inviting atmosphere that Italian culture is so well-known for. The decor is a careful blend of old-world charm and modern comfort, creating a space that is both familiar & cozy.
The atmosphere at Troni's is more than just a backdrop for a meal; it's an integral part of the dining experience, setting the stage for a meal that is meant to be savored and shared. From the moment you walk through the door, you're not just a customer, you're family!
One of the most cherished items on the menu is Troni's homemade lasagna. This dish is a comforting hug on a plate, with layers of pasta sheets, a hearty meat sauce, and a generous helping of melted cheese. Each mouthful of this lasagna is a delightful medley of flavors and textures, making it a firm favorite among patrons.
However, the crowning jewels of Troni's menu are undoubtedly their garlic knots, New York-style pizza, and the amazing homemade meatballs.
The garlic knots, a beloved appetizer, are a symphony of flavors. Soft, warm, and bathed in a fragrant garlic-herb butter, these knots are the perfect start to any meal at Troni's.
The New York-style pizza at Troni's is a tribute to the iconic pizza culture of the Big Apple. The crust, thin & crisp, is a testament to the skill & precision of Troni's pizzaiolos. The sauce, a vibrant blend of ripe tomatoes, is spread generously over the crust, its tangy sweetness perfectly balancing the richness of the cheese. Each slice of this pizza is a bite of New York, right here in Kettering, Ohio.
The homemade meatballs at Troni's are a marvel in themselves. Crafted with a blend of quality meats & seasoned to perfection, these meatballs are a testament to the beauty of simplicity. Each meatball, tender & and flavorful is a bite of home-cooked goodness that will leave you craving for more.
And oh my goodness, the Chicken Marsala is a must-try. This dish, featuring chicken breasts sautƩed with mushrooms in a rich Marsala wine sauce, is a flavorful feast that delights the senses. The chicken, tender and succulent, pairs beautifully with the sweet and slightly nutty flavor of the Marsala sauce, making this a dish to remember!
For desert, I personally recommend the tiramisu. It's a classic Italian dessert. It's a dreamy concoction of mascarpone cream and espresso-soaked ladyfingers. This dessert, with its creamy texture and coffee-infused flavor, is the perfect sweet ending to a meal.
Troni's Italian Restaurant is more than just a place to eat - it's a place where you can experience authentic Italian cuisine in a warm, welcoming environment. It's a place where customers are treated like family.
Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, catching up with friends, or simply craving a taste of Italy, Troni's is the place to be. So the next time you find yourself in Kettering, Ohio, make sure to stop by Troni's Italian Restaurant - your taste buds will...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePlease pay attention to this review- NOTE TO KITCHEN STAFF. My wife and I came here to pick up some to go meals for family since Disalvos Deli was closed. We thoroughly enjoyed the excellent wine selection. You even get offerings you simply canāt find anywhere else. Service was friendly. Nice place. Some of the food was good, butā¦.
Letās start with: the lasagna was great, as were the cannolis. The bread garlic knots was also nice. Nowā¦
The fettuccine Alfredo had NO ZERO flavor. It tasted like they deliberately skipped all seasoning. It had NO seasoning. TGIF back in the 90s made excellent Fredo sauce back when they made it by hand. This fettuccine Alfredo tasted like a reconstituted thawed out sauce premade from a plastic bag. It had body. But really, Iām not exaggerating. No flavor. Outside of creamy goodness, nada. WHY? I really donāt get this. I canāt tell you how many restaurants Iāve visited who seem to lack all knowledge of salt. Seriously, if I have to finish your own dish for you by pouring on my home garlic salt and pepper, why then am I paying you full price? $23 is alot to ask for this lackluster plate. My wife ran into the same thing with her chicken puttanesca.
I gave three stars because when you walk in you immediately get the feeling Troniās is head and shoulders above what youād normally find in a small strip mall. The service was excellent. People were so friendly, it breaks my heart to write such a review. But please understand, food is not rocket science. Especially for you Italians; itās in your blood. Making flavor is not hard to do. Your dishes were unforgivably under seasoned, from the chicken to the sauces. Whoever was in the kitchen Wednesday May 14th, they NEEEEEED a reeducation STAT.
Cannolis were better than Disalvos though. Good on you.
UPDATE I did some hunting for you. First, do you have an older clientele? Old folks are super sensitive to salt, so maybe youāre scaling back the salt on purpose?
Anyway, this is what the good stuff was we did back in the day: One, donāt use cheap product. Get expensive and quality stuff.
If your looking for a "pinky up" type of restaurant, then your probably in the wrong place. BUT when you walk in the restaurant and you hear everyone in the background speaking italian, you know your in the right italian restaurant. and OVERALL, the food is what its all about. And their food is fantastic. Anyone who says there pizza tastes like a generic tombstone pizza obviously doesnt have any taste buds left in their mouth. The pizza is a New York style pizza with a light crisp thin bottom, but flexible crust. Their sauce is exquisite, they could put a little more sauce on their pizza, but now i'm just nit picking. I cant comment on the mushrooms because i've never had them on my pizza. The lasagne taste as good as it looks when it comes out on a piping hot plate. The chicken parmesan is great as well. The marinara sauce they put some of their food is great. I hate textture in food, but this is cooked so perfectly that it just melts in your mouth with absolute unparalleled flavor. I am not a food expert by any means, but if your looking for decent service with a basic wine menu and just domestic beer, but GREAT food, this is a great place to stop by. Pricing is what i expected. Pizzas range from about 15 dollars for a large pepperoni pizza, to approx 15 or 16 dollars for a an entre which includes garlic rolls, a side salad and your entre. In my opinion, the chicken puttanesca is the best item on the menu besides the pizza.
Hopefully this novel makes you want to head over to this small family owned restaurant and have...
