My family and I recently visited Key West Florida during our cruise. While visiting Key West we stopped at Kermit's Key Lime Pie Shop located at 200 Elizabeth Street. My family and I were greeted by friendly staff who were eager to tell us about all the products they offer. Of course Kermits is known for their key lime pie that you can purchase a whole pie or a piece but they also have ice cream, key lime pie ice cream pops, mini cookies (in many flavors), huge cookies, flavored nuts, taffy, jelly beans, and other sweet treats for you to purchase. To my surprise they had a cookie bar where anyone could sample their mini cookies for free and we were also able to try some of their flavor nuts and jelly beans with no purchase necessary. My family and I enjoyed the key lime flavor cookies; they also offer birthday cake, the classic chocolate chip cookie, and so many unique flavors. During my visit I did not see a bathroom, but they might have one in the store. In addition, Kermits was spotless with no seeable dirt on the ground, even near the sampling stations. Due to the popularity of the store, Kermits may get crowded at times–no worries–they have an outside sitting area with a covering that customers can enjoy their sweet treats they purchase. Parking is limited in the back of the shop, but there are meteor parking spots if one is choosing to drive. If you are in the area, I would recommend walking to save time with the hassle of finding a parking spot. If you are in the Key West Florida area, I recommend stopping by Kermit’s Key Lime Pie Shop. The next time I am in Key West I will be stopping by Kermit's Key Lime Pie Shop and purchasing some of their delicious...
Read moreI have never had Key Lime pie.
So, I decided to try some since I'm in Key West, FL.
I used my resources to help me find the best Key Lime pie in Key West and Yelp seems to think that Kermit's Key Lime pie is the best.
When I walked into the store of Kermit's Key Lime pie and informed them that I had never had Key Lime pie before, both sales attendants were SHOCKED!
I said that I had heard this was the place to get "the best" Key Lime pie. Well, strangely enough, they both quickly agreed!
So, I ordered my single slice of Key Lime pie. While paying for it the attendants told me they had "garden seating" behind the store.
The seating is very nice, but it is outdoor seating, so it is at the mercy of the weather currently being enjoyed by Key West. Fortunately for me, I was at the store right about sunset, so I just had to survive the humidity.
Now, about the pie.
As I've said, this was my first ever slice. So, I have nothing to compare it to. Having said that, I was very pleased with my first slice of Key Lime pie a la Kermit's Key West Key Lime pie shop.
It was creamy, light, with just a touch of tang. The graham cracker crust was delightful. I am very pleased with this pie and will be using it to compare all other key lime pies...
Read moreThe original Kermit's, and we were so happy we stopped by. If you are looking for the best key lime pie, I would definitely recommend this be the one you try first. The pie was so creamy and just the right amount of tartness. Great key lime taste.
The store is amazing. They have a tasting area where you can literally taste anything you might be interested in buying. They have key lime everything. The candies and cookies were amazing. We could have spent hours in this shop. Definitely stop by for the full experience.
The store offers ice cream, pies of course, and specialty drinks. My husband had coconut ice cream and said it was the best ice cream he had ever had. Of course, I went for the key lime pie. And I did not regret it. It, by fair, was my favorite. 10/10. After making our purchase, we went out back to their courtyard, which we definitely recommend. It was so beautiful and relaxing. Flowers everywhere with a koi pond. The sound of running water. There are plenty of tables to enjoy a nice snack. They also have a kitchen that offers a nice meal break while wandering the town.
If you are in the area, I would recommend taking the trip down to the original Kermit's to get the...
