Not an overall great experience. We spent 17 days docked at Galleon Marina. On the 3rd day we started having power issues. The 100Amp breaker tripped, and we couldnt get it back on. We moved the shorepower cord to the other side of the pedestal, breaker tripped again. Next we used our 50Amp smartbox on the same pedestal. There was a loud buzzing noise coming from the pedestal, and it lasted about 12hours before that breaker tripped and we couldnt get it going again. At this point, we only had 1 AC chiller running, with no oven/stove/washer/dryer on at all. I told the dockmaster, Tom, about the power. I was told that an electrician from the resort would come out and take a look at the pedestal. A couple of hours later, he told me that theres nothing wrong on their side, and that its our boat thats the problem.
The assistant dockmaster, Cory, is great. Hes very helpful, and accommodating. He told me we can try the pedestal at an empty slip next to us. I went to the current pedestal to make sure the noise was coming from the pedestal, and shocked myself just by touching the metal flap that covers the shorepower cord and pedestal from the weather elements. At this point it was more of a safety concern, and not a "terrible service" issue. The end of the story was that they DID in fact change the breakers on that pedestal after I got shocked. The problem was the pedestal and not our boat, as we have been told previously by Tom. "It might, or it might not have been the breaker", I was told. Interesting how the issues were resolved after the breaker was changed out. Not once was there an apology made for the inconvenience. For the money that was spent at Galleon Marina, the service has been below par.
On a sidenote, imagine you call in to the marina office and this is how the conversation goes: Morgan: Hello "Is this the Galleon Marina?" Morgan: Yes, what do you want? "Is the Dockmaster in?" Morgan: No, what do you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeautiful marina, perfect location. Of the many marinas around the area the location of the The Galleon is perfect. Three blocks from Duvall is just close enough AND just far enough. Favorite parts of the day is watching the morning activities kick in and seeing the day close on my aft deck as the fishing boats return filled with tourists and their catches. As the sunsets you can watch the boats empty and the bars and restaurants around the marina fill up. The floating docks are very nice, solid power to connect to, and fresh water at every slip. Friendly transient boaters surrounded us and the staff was very helpful. Plus we had a manatee friend hanging around, always a blast. Will definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe sailed our boat down from Miami and stayed three nights at The Galleon Marina. We were met at the dock by two staff members to assist us landing. They were very friendly and accommodating, and the amenities at the marina are fabulous. My children love the pool and the jacuzzi, and we really liked the proximity to all of the action. we will definitely stay here again when we come back down. the prices are commensurate with what you would expect from a very very busy seafaring town, maybe a bit on the expensive side considering I'm bringing my own hotel š. But we don't do this stuff to pinch pennies and it was worth every penny that we spent. We will be back, probably sooner...
