We first ‘booked at the Mansion’ in 2023. (I had never stayed at a mansion & was really looking forward to it.) We arrived to find just a few parking spaces (maybe 8) – we lucked out & found an empty one.|| We followed instuctions that we were given to our room & were completely shocked, when, the inst. took us out the side door & into the back! There sits a 2 level motel type building!! I was shocked & soooo disappointed at the same time. The room was ok – but NOT in a mansion (& I had paid more than I would have elsewhere). At least, we had a parking place & free coffee & continental breakfast each morning and close to Duval St.|| We didn’t think we would go back. When we decided on another visit in 2025 – I had a problem finding a decent price – so, I said “well, let’s do the mansion again, AT LEAST, we’ll have a place to park, free breakfast every morning and just a ‘few’ steps away from Duval St.”|| Got there to find, no place to park – they had blocked off some of the parking places, to put tables & chairs out front!! Next morning, walked out to find NO coffee & NO breakfast. Walked into the mansion go get brochures & saw a menu for George's bar & spritz. Arrows inside pointed to the side porch. Walked out there to find tables & chairs (matching the ones outside) and a bar with a woman, ready to take orders! One cup of coffee, $5.00 (I don’t think so). We went elsewhere for breakfast. The next morning, I noticed a Kuerig machine in our room, next to 4 ceramic mugs (yay!) Wait, what?? No coffee pods!! After we left I texted the mgmt company (NOT on the premises) – they said, the lady behind the bar has some, so check with her. Next morning, my man brought MY own cup to the bar & asked for coffee pods, she said ‘well it’s really NOT MY JOB, but I’ll see if I can call housekeeping for you. She phoned, no answer, so she did say follow me & we went to the other side of the property, she went in and came out with 3 pods! At least, I would have coffee the next day. Our way back we noticed a cabinet with extra towels, & small personal products in case they were needed. (And they were, when we called for clean towels, no one ever came (they DID in 2023). Also, next to that cabinet was a wire basket to throw used towels (what happened to housekeeping). Back in the room, I put the coffee pods next to the coffee maker for the next day & we went out to breakfast. Had coffee at the restaurant & didn’t think about sugar or creamer until the waitress brought them. Wait a minute, I had coffee back in the room but, not creamer, sugar or stirrers!! (I took the extra creamer back with me). The room itself, needed a little work – good thing that I paid for a “Deluxe” queen (can’t imagine what a lesser room would be). Bathroom a pretty mint green, until you notice the brown spots/stains on the wall, the white putty, where it was patched and the rust & dust under the sink. The door to the outside, at the top, looked like someone tried to break out of there & the windowsill needed painting, as well (I didn’t dare look any further). We will NEVER go back there again!! By the way, for the time that we were there, we NEVER saw anyone using those tables that they blocked the parking...
Read moreWe just finished a 3 night stay here and unfortunately we didn't get the room we had booked. It was a little disappointing. It was my mother's 72nd birthday and she wanted one last vacation. Her health has been declining rapidly and the doctor advised us to get in whatever quality time we could soon. We planned a trip. She chose Key West. I told her to pick any hotel she wanted. She loved the pictures and was particularly thrilled with the Victorian decor and the big canopy beds of this hotel. So I made reservations well in advance and was very specific as to what type if room we wanted...A king or queen canopy room with an adjoining sitting room. The woman taking the reservation assured me they had one and we booked it. (She was very pleasant). Upon arrival and entering our room my mom immediately noticed there was no big canopy bed. She was very disappointed. I called the front desk and the gentleman told me that he didn't see it in the notes and that unfortunately all the other rooms were booked. Then he offered to check us out so we could go to another hotel. (Which of course was not an option on a busy MLK weekend...plus we had just driven for two days to get there). He suggested we find the owner, Phil, and talk to him. We tried once but he was on a phone call and we were told to try again the next morning. My mother was so bummed out she wouldn't even come down for happy hour the first night. But we made do and went on. The next morning my husband went looking for the owner and met his wife (also an owner). She just told us the same thing. Their all booked up and that there's nothing in the notes about a canopy bed. This was my ailing mother's last hurrah and we really did try and make everything as perfect as we could. Honestly, my husband and I were fine with our beds and overall satisfied with the room. But obviously we weren't making it up. We did specifically ask for something and assured that we would get it. And then did not. At over $500 a night they could have at least offered us something. My mother finally got over it by the second night (although two of her friends have already mentioned the darn canopy bed to me.) I tried. I will say that the place is gorgeous and the staff pretty friendly. The location is amazing and the fellow guests were a god-send (especially helping me with my mother). But if you have specific requirements, make sure they put them in the notes and have them send you a...
Read moreThe property is misleadingly advertised as a hotel or bed and breakfast, but it is actually a collection of Airbnb rentals managed by a third party. For the high rate of $400+ per night, the experience was extremely disappointing. There is no front desk, and guests cannot get immediate assistance. Communication is primarily via text, with slow responses and no urgency.
When we arrived at 3pm, we were unaware that check-in was at 4pm. After calling, we received a text saying a room was ready, but the main building door was never opened. We eventually got in with the help of another guest. However, after waiting further, we received the room number without entry instructions. Two codes were provided, but neither worked. After multiple contacts and sharing a video, they sent the correct code, which had one digit incorrect in the original message.
We requested the WiFi password on the first evening but didn't receive a response until the following day, and even then, the password provided was incorrect due to capitalization errors.
The shower had no hot water, and despite reaching out around 9pm, no one responded until the next morning when maintenance arrived and management texted that it seemed fixed without any apology.
Parking is unreserved and limited, so if no spaces are available, guests must find their own solutions. Additionally, the room lacked basic security features like latches, extra locks, or privacy signs, making us uncomfortable when maintenance entered without warning while we were still in bed.
The room was poorly maintained. The bed’s canopy was loose and wobbled, and the ceiling fan was improperly attached, making us fear it might fall. There was no way to request fresh towels, only communal laundry facilities if you wanted to wash the provided ones.
In conclusion, this place is not worth the price, and I strongly advise against staying here. It's better to spend a little more for a real...
