Have visited this restaurant a few times in the past. We like to go there for special occasions. Unfortunately, our visit on Sunday Aug. 21, 2022 at 7:30pm, was far less than what we expected. We reserved for a party of 4 adults, at a hibachi table. It was to be a birthday celebration for our son, who was turning 23 years old. The tradition in our family is that we always to go a Japanese Steakhouse / Hibachi restaurant on these special dates. We had barely put our "butts in the chairs" at our table, before our server presented herself, and pretty much demanded that we place our order. After explaining to her (Ming was her name) that we'd not even had a chance to look at the menu yet, she walked away. When she returned (1 minute later) to take our order, we told her that we'd like to order some apps and sushi. She directed us to the "flip side" of the dinner menu where she said their sushi offerings were. I've been to this restaurant several times in the past, and reminded her that there IS a sushi "check off" menu that we'd like to order from. Begrudgingly, she then acknowledged that she'd bring the "sushi menu"...only after I had demanded to see it. If that wasn't bad enough, she then returned about 10 seconds later, and demanded that we place our order! I told her at that point that I didn't want to be "rushed" and that we would let her know when we were ready to order our sushi and apps. That episode put a very bad taste in our mouths (no pun intended) about the whole dining experience ahead of us. I really don't remember too much more about the night, because I felt that we were unwelcome, and a nuisance to the wait staff. Our hibachi chef was John. I suppose he's experienced enough (and we were reminded of that by the wait staff,,,,about how "lucky" we were to have 'John' as our chef.) Gotta say, though, I felt that he was a bit snarky (as did our party of 4ppl. feel that way.) He made a snide remark to me, as he prepared the meal, to "NOT rush him." Can't help but think that came back from our initial encounter with Ming, our server, when I asked her to "not rush us." All in all, I felt it was a stressful dining experience. I'm sorry, but when I pay $300 for a meal for 4 adults, on a special occasion, the last thing I want to feel like is that I've been "scolded" several times, and that my patronage isn't appreciated. PS: There was never any notice or mention made of my son's birthday, although I had informed the restaurant ahead of time that we were dining because of the special b-day event. Very very underwhelmed, on the border line of being insulted. Not sure that we'll be going back any time soon. Too much attitude to deal with...
Read moreI try to refrain from posting bad reviews because I understand how the restaurant industry has suffered the past 4 years with rising costs. However, deceiving customers is inexcusable. This was our first visit and we specifically asked how many golden shrimp come with an order. Our server, who seemed quite seasoned and knowledgeable about other menu items, told us 6 for the entree @ $29 and 3 for the add-on @ $9, so we each ordered entrees with add-ons. When the chef prepared our order we were each given 7 shrimp total. He told us it is 5 per entree and 2 per add-on. When we questioned the server she said âOh, I made a mistake, sorry.â She never offered to correct her âmistakeâ, never asked us if we wanted dessert, just gave us the bill. Without going into details on the side dishes and the food other people at our table were served, the overall quality and quantity offered was disappointing. Whether or not we were lied to about the shrimp portions remains to be seen, but it seems pretty âfishyâ to me. I have compassion for servers; I was once one myself. When I made a mistake I made it up to...
Read moreThe food is good. Taste like Tsukasa. We Usually Go to the one in Vernon hills however they didnât have any availability in the one in V.H. Our tradition is to go for dinner on my daughter bday and have them sing happy bday. They donât do the bday li apple or the picture , at least at this location. They also had an included service charge . Prices had been increased significantly . In the past, the chef would write my daughter name with rice, we ordered a bday ou sole, sing happy bday, picture, and we were all good. Here, nothing, no rice with her name, no dessertđ, no happy bday. Plus a service fee for asking for split checks. We heard th table next to us singing happy bday. I asked why our chef didnât offer that and they said it depends on the chef. For the price tag ? Itâs not worth it. 300 Dollars for an adult and 3 kids , no thanks. Itâs just sad because I wanted my daughter to have a nice d pier I be . Wonât be coming back . 0s: I mentioned all of this to the manager today. He didnât seemed to care and, Iâm not one to complain, it was just such a special occasion. Itâs a birthday...
