Disappointing and Bland, Keep Driving.
As a California native who grew up with authentic, family-run Mexican restaurants, I can say with certainty that this is not the place to go if you're looking for real Mexican food. While the restaurant itself was clean and the staff was friendly, the food was a major letdown. The presentation was nice and looked appetizing, but that’s where the positives ended.
I ordered the carne asada tacos, and the meat was completely flavorless. It tasted like it had been boiled, with no seasoning, salt, or char whatsoever. It was like chewing on hot, rubbery nothing. To make matters worse, the tacos came with guacamole, which was not mentioned on the picture menu and I happen to be allergic to. I've never had a truly authentic taco served with guacamole. I had to pick it out, and even the guac itself was thin, watery, and bland.
The sides were just as disappointing. The refried beans had a slightly funky, bland flavor, and the "Spanish" rice was a pale orange, which should have been my first warning sign. It lacked any flavor profile and was a far cry from the rich, dark orange rice I'm used to. Everything on my plate was just bland, bland, bland.
My husband's chicken chimichanga was no better. The chicken was boring and flavorless, served with the same uninspired beans and rice. They did provide three salsas, but they were a mixed bag. The red and green salsas were both severely lacking in flavor, while the dark red one was so hot that it completely overwhelmed any potential taste. It was just heat for the sake of heat.

Read moreWow. Mexican, again. Who would have thought?! If you’re on a road trip with someone with food allergies, Mexican and Asian cuisine are your go-to, plus, well, tacos. After getting gas in Kingman, we needed quick, easy, counter service Mexican. Welp, all I can say is, wow. I could tell from the tortillas this place was going to be stellar. They’re HUGE, authentic, light, and each individually lovingly made.
The service was absolutely stellar; friendly, attentive, informative. And the food?! Wow, tuned three. No skimping on meat, fillings, or flavor. Delicious horchata, pina to boot. Also, the prices were better than TUS and PDX, like old school, $10 burritos instead of $14+. The only issue I had was in the hidden credit card, in my case, debit card, upcharge. Almost $2 added for using a card. Are we even able to carry cash anymore? And who does, especially on a road trip. So, bring it here so the food stands out,...
Read moreAmazing little precocious Taco Shop. My wife found this hidden gem by doing some online research. The reviews foreshadowed what was about to come. Great flavor and satisfaction fullness. We both had the Super Burrito, which was pricy, but worth it. It was enough for 2 people. We had leftovers for later in the evening. The asada was flavorful and the tortilla was perfect. It was not salty like some places I've eaten out.
The young lady that assisted me was friendly and courteous. We found we had a connection to Cherry Point, NC. Such as small world at a taco shop in Kingman, AZ.
Highly recommend this place for anyone traveling through. It's an easy off and on to I40.
