Manning’s Farmhouse Ice Cream Shoppe Wyoming Avenue in Kingston, PA, is a no frills establishment. The utilitarian atmosphere, however, is more than compensated by delicious homemade ice cream and very friendly service. When a lot of the local ice cream stands shut down after Labor Day, Manning’s is there to feed the denial that summer in NOT almost over. In fact, the shop is open all year to satisfy your ice cream fix.
We arrived at approximately 7:30 p.m. on a Friday evening and were greeted by two young ladies behind the counter who were very personable. It took a few minutes to go over the menu, which featured over 30 different flavors of ice cream and five frozen yogurts. We settled on a large bowl of apple crisp and a medium chocolate peanut butter on a waffle cone, before settling ourselves at one of two indoor tables.
The ice cream was very creamy and flavorful. The apple crisp came with tiny chunks of apple with what appeared to be crushed graham crackers. The chocolate peanut butter was well-balanced.
In addition to individual servings, one can also purchase one-half gallons containers of select flavors, ice cream cakes, and milkshakes.
Manning’s Farmhouse Ice Cream Shoppe is a must if one is an ice cream fan. Located next to Lino’s Pizza and Restaurant, it would be a perfect place to stop by for a...
Read moreThe ice cream is always good, however the last 3 or 4 times we've been there I've noticed a musty mildew smell when you walk into the ice cream shop. I'm also frustrated that the ice cream flavor board on the wall is not updated and the flavors aren't written on the cases. It seems some of the young people working are apathetic and I never see a manager around. The counters and cases are not wiped down and there ice build up in teh freezers. It's very disappointing. Not sure we're going back...
