This place has good food and great shakes.
However, staff training may be needed. A lot of teenagers working here, which is great. They were friendly but I don't think they were given much training.
We were given a number card for our order, but wasn't given any direction on what to do with it. So we left it on our table. We order a shake with our burger. Saw a kid walking around asking different tables (not ours) if the shake was for their table. (Whats the point of the number card?) We had to go up to the counter, waited for two different staff to walk by me without asking what I needed before finally asked.
A lot of the tables were dirty. This would be somewhat understandable if the restaurant was busy and everyone was running around. However, a lot of the kids were standing around talking among themselves. Which made the eating experience worst as we did our best placing napkins in sticky shake spills to be able to use the table.
Last thing, as we sat there eating avoiding sticky spots on the table we couldn't help noticing staff with really long loose hair were handling food. I'm sure this would have been fine normally but when you're in a bad situation you keep nitpicking more things.
I guess to end it in a positive. The staff wasn't exactly unfriendly, just not trained or given any sort of direction. Food was good...
Read moreA friend of mine recommended this place. He mention it was recently voted the best burger in the world. My family and I had to check it out.
I was excited pulling up to the place. It was cool looking. We walked inside in the ambience was unique.
I took a look at the menu and it seemed intriguing. The burgers were plain so If you want it toppings, it was an extra charge for each.
I had the double cheeseburger. My wife and son each had the Frisco melt. My daughter had the standard single cheese burger.
We got three orders of fries and one onion ring.
My daughter got a root beer float. My son got the cotton candy shake.
All the burgers were a bit overcooked and seemed dense.
The fries taste it odd to me. Very salty and an odd bite. I can't explain it.
The onion rings came with just a 4-5 and they were over-fried.
The root beer float was huge but as my daughter got into it, her and my son both realized they were both filled with too much was whipped cream.
My wife and I each had an urban dog beer.
The total tab was $83.
Not worth it. If you're going to charge that much, make sure the food your serving...
Read moreI was out shopping and decided to get a late lunch at White Castle. The wait was too long, so I tried the nearby Sonic drive-thru. The wait there was also too long, so I decided to just head back to my daughter's home. On the way, I saw a Hi Point restaurant that my daughter had previously mentioned had the bestest burgers in St Louis. She was indeed correct. The smash-burger-style hamburger had crispy edges and a perfectly cooked center. You get to order exactly what you want on the burger, and they served me an outstanding strawberry milkshake to wash it down. I also enjoyed a small side of chili. A great lunch overall, and I can't wait to return. Maybe tomorrow. UPDATE-1: Returned the next day for lunch and had a double cheeseburger with jalapenos, lettuce, and onions. Terrific lunch. My wife had a hot dog and mac and cheese. I sampled both and can recommend them. UPDATE-2: We spent the last two lunches determining whether the burgers at Culver's or Hi-Pointe were better. The verdict is in. Hi-Pointe is definitely better. However, what happened to Big Boy (alias Hi Boy) figure next to the camper...
