Hobby Lobby has so many craft and home decor items that are usually reasonably priced. They no longer offer coupons, but holiday items are usually 40 to 50% off before the holiday with bigger markdowns afterward. This can also be frustrating, though, as they offer these percent off saving almost immediately after they stock the items. I would prefer they just put the actual price on the item and do away with this "artificial" sale, but I'm sure it's an effective marketing tool as you DO feel like you are getting a bargain. Items are less expensive than competitors such as Michaels or JoAnn's, with a large selection of items to choose from. Unfortunately, like most craft stores, their counted cross stitch and embroidery selection are very limited. They have lots of scrapbook supplies, yarn, and a limited fabric area (decent quality of fabric). Painting, models, artificial flowers, puzzles... you name it. There is a framing section as well. The best feature, though, is the variety of holiday and seasonal merchandise. Closed on Sunday. My only complaint is their political involvement, but it's a private company, and they can choose to do what they want. I noticed they have a revolving sale calendar. Items on sale this week will be on sale again the week after next week, so unless you are in a hurry, you may benefit by waiting until the next week for the item to go on sale again. This is not inclusive of all items but a...
Read moreI have had a heck of a time with the framing department. I ordered two custom frames that’s were quite expensive ($350 each). I was told they would be ready in three weeks. I came back three weeks later to pick up my frames and they looked up my order and said, “oh, your order was canceled because the frame type you chose was out of stock.” No one had informed me, so I decided to shop elsewhere for frames. However, before I had a chance, they called and said my order had been placed again as the frame was now in stock. I agreed to come pick up the frames in two weeks. Then I waited an additional week because the glass had broken during shipping. Finally, they were both ready and I came in to pick them up on my day off. They were wrapped in plastic. I took them home, opened up the plastic, and removed my $700 bare frames and glass. There are no hooks attached for hanging them on the wall. Do you think ANYONE could have mentioned, “hey, it will be an extra five dollars to attach hooks to your $700 picture frames if you want?” ?!!! I now have to go back out and find a store (hopefully and likely my local hardware store) that sells picture frame hooks that I will attach myself because apparently that $700 worth of custom picture frames at Hobby Lobby doesn’t include them. I am LITERALLY never returning...
Read moreI frequent this store often to buy fabric for my small business. Compared to other Hobby Lobby's this store has deplorable customer service. I always have to wait 20-30 minutes IN LINE at the fabric counter or (more often) at checkout. What is the point of having 12 check out stations when you only have 2 open, and 10 people waiting in each line to check out? The check out staff is always rude: examples--one male staffer refused to use my 40% coupon on fabric, stating that it was already on "sale". Keep in mind I have used the 40% coupon on sale fabric literally 30 times before at this store during checkout. When I kindly asked if their policy had changed, he said its always been their policy and that I couldn't have done it before. As I was leaving, he rudely stated " have a blessed day". Robin was incredibly rude to the person in front of me today, snarkily telling her to read the sign that says "returns only" before refusing to check her out and made her wait another 20 minutes to check out in the other line. Melanie in the fabrics department has always been very kind and helpful--but that is the only one in the store. Hoping changes can happen and this particular hobby lobby will have better customer service...
