We decided to try out this new crab place that everyone was talking about. There were 6 adults and 2 kids in our party. We were there on Saturday night of Super Bowl weekend.
The wait was not bad at all, we maybe sat for 20 minutes before getting our table. While waiting we were standing out front and noticed a sign talking about deals on wings, drinks, and crab. Most of us decided on the snow crab and shrimp deal for $39.99.
This is where we ran into our first issue. When ordering the special, we were told that it was only during the Super Bowl. Very confusing that the sign was out and didn't specify "only during Super Bowl" or "Only on this date". Well, great, now I had to figure out what to order next. I decided to order my own combo of 1/2 LB items so that I could try different things.
Unfortunately, ordering by the 1/2 LB was not "allowed" during dinner time hours, you can only order 1/2 LB during lunch time (Monday-Friday 11-4pm). Dinner combos only come in 1 LB orders. I ended up ordering 1 LB Snow Crab and 1 LB shrimp. I also ordered the stuffed Jalapenos as an appetizer. My wife ordered crawfish etouffee and friends ordered crab and shrimp.
The restaurant gave every table complimentary Seafood Bread (which was delicious)!! The stuffed Jalapenos were very good as well. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the appetizers.
When our meals arrived, most of them came in giant bags clear bags. The presentation of dumping the crab and shrimp onto giant metal plates in font of you didn't seem very appealing. Maybe do that next to the table instead of at the table. Aside from the presentation, the food was really, really good! It is great that we have a seafood restaurant so close.
The question then becomes why 3 stars. This is because of the service we received. Our glasses were almost never refilled, drinks were wrong, getting our bills took forever and when they arrived, they were wrong. I think there will be a lot of growing pains regarding service, but it was just bad. The other reason I gave only 3 stars is because the extra gratuity on the bill. I don't have a problem paying for good service, but because our party was 8 or more, we had to pay a required gratuity.
When the bill came it came with the included "Service Fee". That should be labeled a "tip". Then when the final receipt arrives, there is nothing indicating you having paid your service fee, and now there is a tip amount. That seems sneaky. If you were not paying attention you might end up tipping again. Again, I wouldn't have a problem tipping more here for great service.
We will be back, and if we have a different experience I will...

About 5 minutes after we were seated, we noticed that there were ants crawling all over the window and wooden walls next to our booth. We had to squish about 10 that came on our table throughout the meal.
We had a server who was new (third day there, not his fault - perhaps he should have been shadowing someone still) Our drinks took awhile to come and once they did, one beer was room temp and had to be replaced.
For apps we ordered seafood bread, onion rings, etouffee, crab cakes, and oysters. Everything came out super quickly except for the oysters. Our server kept checking back in with us saying that he doesn't know why it's taking so long, it takes awhile to shuck them, etc. About an hour after initially ordered them with no oysters in sight, we finally told him that we didn't want them anymore, so he took them off our bill. Why would it take a seafood restaurant so long to shuck oysters, sprinkle some cheese on them, and broil them a bit? Something didn't seem right.
We finally got our entrees shortly after that - two fried cod baskets, snow crab legs, and etouffee. The crab legs and etouffee were good, while the fried cod itself was subpar with super bland breading. The person eating it said they have had better at Captain D's. We were seated at 6:30 pm and did not walk out of the restaurant until 8:20. We didn't linger at the table talking, and we ordered quite quickly upon sitting down. It should not have taken that long and we never did get an explanation about the oysters.
Every person in my party said they will never come back to this place. The bread was the best thing about the...
