La Mexicana Restaurant — Restaurant in Kissimmee

So this is an update. They moved to a different location. This is the second time I've been to this new spot. As soon as we walked in I noticed gloves 🧤 on some of the staff there. They were the runners. So, my eyes were just peered to watch the glove situation. I don't like gloves on a restaurant setting at all, especially from runners. These Mofos kept going to and from running food and touching everything and their mother with them gloves. As fast as they were moving there was no way they were changing them gloves. FOOD RUNNERS BRO!!! Now I want to make clear that I love this spot.(Maybe not so much now). We ordered some drinks, an appetizer, and our dinner. I'm freaking OCD, and as soon as I saw gloves, the radar was in full alert. We got our drinks which were 2 for 1 on happy hour, really good. The Gloves wearing runner came to bring our appetizer and I had my eye on him. He is opening doors, serving tables and there was no way he changed gloves in between any of his runs. When he brought the appetizer to the table I asked him in Spanish let me see your gloves. Cause from afar I noticed some crap hanging from his hands. When he showed me his gloves, I promise it was like looking at the Mexican Flag. There was green stuff (guac maybe) some red unidentified item on it and white crap all over them. This dude in the time I was there never changed his gloves. Then this Mofo had the audacity to just hand my appetizer to another runner with green gloves and try to have him serve us the same item. Before he was even 10 feet from my table I waved him off. Now here is the problem. Why in the hell are they wearing gloves? Why???? I asked the server was it just because they want to keep their hands clean. STOP IT!!! I told the server, I can go back there now and check the trash and won't find any gloves I them, so don't tell me they are changing them. She did not even budge. Gloves are nasty if not used correctly and unnecessary for food runners. Wash your hands period!!! Just cause they wear gloves doesn't mean anything if they are touching everything else that the none glove wearers was re touching.

Just keep your eyes open. And don't allow these nasty gloves to bring food to you! JUST MADTY!!!!

I've been here before for lunch and dinner and it's always good. Last time I was here, I noticed that they have breakfast items on the menu. Today was the day!!!! Man, it did not disappoint. My pictures include Caldo de Res and Huevos Rancheros. I mean look at the pics. That tasted better than it looks. Let me tell you a little secret about Mexican Restaurants. If you arrive and the customer base is 80% Mexican, you are in the right place. Nevermind, that it was 9:30am and the place was packed with maybe 2 to 3 tables available. Service is fast and the food comes out pretty quick as well. What I noticed today is these servers all work together as a team, they help each other out, run each others food and that really helps all of them out. Of course I'll be back. Definitely for breakfast again. Need to try some more of the breakfast options. ...

The reason why this place gets three stars is because the customer service experience here is subpar. The ladies taking your order make you feel rushed and then you can be left waiting for quite some time before you get your food.

That said, if it is simply the food, my God! It is amazing, it is authentic Mexican food, if you buy a pound of carne asada and barbacoa, you have enough to feed a full family with some tasty tacos. The barbacoa has a unqiue flavor and it has a spicy bite to it that sets it apart from other Mexican places such as Tapatio and Tenampa.

The price makes it an excellent value as well. With that order of roughly two pounds of meat, I paid about $20. Delicious.

Like I said, if all I was doing was picking up food, understand, the food is five stars all day. The customer service, or at least the lady I was being helped by definitely made the experience at the location a sour one.

*Keep in mind this is an experience from a first visit, and I wasn't sitting down to eat, I was there to place a to-go order. Those that were sitting to eat seemed to be receiving consistent service and seemed to be happy.

UPDATE:

I have gone many times back to this restaurant since the initial experience I’ve had and I can say it’s improved drastically. Service could still definitely be improved, but I’m always happy with the experience I have going there.

I mean, you really come here for the food. The new location, stands alone and has a supermarket right next to it. It’s across from where it was in the corner of the shopping plaza in its own lot now.

Inside, the decor, the setup, everything has been amped up to 11 and it shows. I love coming here when I’m in the mood for some solid Mexican dishes. I stick to tacos, quesadillas, and fajitas; their pork belly (chicharron) taco is so good that it’s become a weekly...

Pulled up Friday with the whole fam to celebrate my daughter’s graduation (couldn’t do it earlier that day). Haven’t been in a minute honestly, we only used to come when Jennifer was around, she always took care of us right.

This time we got some dude named Amauricio… man looked like he ain’t even wanna be there. We’ve seen him before and the vibe’s always off dude don’t look clean, even when he just bussin’ tables. We let it slide tho.

Then he brings the margaritas and don’t even ask what tequila I want. I didn’t say nothin’ ‘cause my man used to work in restaurants and don’t like when I speak up. To keep it real, the drink was on point 🙏🏻 props to the bartender.

Food came and we ran outta tortillas, and dude just standin’ there choppin’ it up with the manager like nothing. We couldn’t even get his attention to ask for more.

Crazy thing? Last year he waited our table for my man’s bday and bro was reeking of weed. Like, high-high. Same energy yesterday , zoned out.

I ain’t bringin’ my fam back. This spot’s only good if you sittin’ at the bar, just chillin’. The short dude, Claudia, and the blonde Venezuelan girl? They know what’s up. That cantarito she makes got me feelin’ like I’m straight in Mexico.

Takeout team always got good vibes, and Evelyn in the morning? She got that real service, always on it.

Y’all gotta switch up the floor staff fr .. service at the tables ain’t it no more.

And wild part? Homie asked us for a review after all that. Nah bro, that gotta come from us, you don’t ask for it.

Last year he was straight flying, I remember him yelling up front at the girl in to-go. the one with dark hair. Mad disrespectful.
