October 23, 2023 hunters creek ale house John young pkwy, orlando fl store #041 check #810 @2:06pm (checkout)
Let me first start off by saying I've been going to this Ale house for over 30 years let along going out to restaurants weekly and never in my life have been so berated and treated so poorly like i did this past sunday october 22, 2023 at the outside patio bar... Bartender wearing a New Orleans faded black jersey named Hannah. "Beware". Okay so let me back up about 8 months to last football season the bartenders are generally good here and busy especially on football sundays. I ordered chicken wings and some beers like on most occasions because there really good here. I come for the wings and the T.V.'s . So, after about 20 minutes in I asked "Hannah" politely can you check on my wings (same bartender today). She went back and checked and said she doen't know what happen and blamed it on the cooks. Then I see her go to the computer and I.m pretty sure she's punching in the order because she forgot to punch it in previously. The wings came she apoligized. Then she came back later when her shift was ending and asked me to tab out. I said no, I'd like to continue my tab. She got upset and mumbled some thing under her breath and stormed off snatching the receipt away. The customer next to my said oh wow what was that all about because she was pretty rude...I left zero tip and she was mad. Now fast forward to Oct 22, 2023. mind you its 7 games thats 7 weeks into the season that I havent been back. so from november last year to now almot a year, because i'm afraid to go in hear beause of this girl. I go in sit down at the bar thinking i can handle this all is forgotten. Hannah comes over to say hello and say her usual line to me like to everyone else and before she could finish i said hi can I have a miller lite and she snapped back and said your not even gonna let me finish. I said oh sorry. Thanks.. I close out with cash she said your closing out and I said yes please. I sat there awhile this was about 12:30pm. I decided to sit and run a tab. I ordered 3 more beers and 12 wings from the other bartender. My friend steve showed up how long you been here he said 20 minutes at least so I flagged "Hannah" down who I didnt get the order from if she could check on my wing order.. She comes back and explains to me that its the hospitality industry and that she's not the one cooking the food. So I'm shaking my head now saying this happened to me last time and its beginning to happen to me from you on occasion that she's always involved. She continually tells me to be quiet and to look and her and let her talk. Jim are you gonna let me talk and explain to you. Okay so I raise my head looking at her. She says am i the cook i say no. she says is it my fault then I said no i would suppose not. She then says " We want you to come in here and have a good time and maybe if you change your attitude you will. Like when you first came in you cut me off ordering a beer. See now she lecturing me that its my fault with my attitude. Iclosed out saying forget the wings. I left zero tip. I went to the blue zone in the back and ordered wings there. From Kerryn. I got my wings in a short time and service was great with everyone there from her. 5 Star.. In closing I'm an army veteran of 20 years service I treat people with respect. It takes alot out of me to write this., but I am trurly in disbelief in how she treated me with my friend beside me. I don't need to be lectured, degraded and belittled by a millers Ale house bartender in front of my friend. She's not the manager or my drill seargent. Telling me to look at her while she's talking. This is unacceptable behavior. She should escalate this to a manager not take it inher own hands. Now I feel like I don't want to go back because I.m afraid of what will happen next from "Hannah" I don't need to be humiliated by staff after a long week to watch football at my favorite ale house. I should just stay...
Read moreWhere do I start. Lets start with the positive and most important to a business. Dixie the bartender was amazing, the zinger salad was phenomenal. I prefer the Hunters Creek location over the rest. The food always seems to be a little more consistent than the other locations. The bar staff seems to give better service than the servers so we always choose to sit at the bar.
I do need to say this, and I am standing up for the staff based on my experience last night. I have been going back and forth all morning trying to decide if I should leave this review or not. If you decide to eat here be prepare for some kind of "show." When you are sitting at the bar you are in the middle of the restaurant, you can see the kitchen window and you can see everything around. If you sit closer to the kitchen side you can hear everything the staff has to say when they are being loud.
As I was sitting at the bar with a friend my attention was drawn to the female manager in the front by the kitchen window. She was yelling for an employee, which made my friend and I turn heads trying to see what the commotion was about. I assume since she was unable to get the young ladies attention she had Dixie and the other bartender, along side a server yell for the young lady again yelling across the restaurant. I know if I was helping someone I would not turn my attention away to from someone who does not work with me to engage with someone yelling at me across the restaurant. Yes, I said that correctly. When I say yelling across the restaurant that is exactly what I mean. You have the kitchen window at one end of the bar and the other end has booths right behind it. This female manager had no professionalism about her. After several minutes went by I then notice my attention was being drawn back to the female manager yet again yelling across the restaurant to the female host. This was the same young lady from before she was yelling for. She was yelling at her again to stop, and when the host turned to look at the manager she mouthed something back to her but the poor girls face immediately went serious as she was helping a family with a man who had a baby and another with crouches. The manager had the audacity to turn to the employee next to her and say something nasty about the host. How is this behavior okay! Especially from a manager. I looked over at the host and she looked upset but kept on engaging with a smile at the front door, now that is professional. While the manager turned her back and kept telling other staff members she was to busy to help with their questions and to find someone else. If this is how the manager treats their employees I'm disgusted and outraged.
The lack of processualism here is appalling. Again, when you are sitting at the bar you can see and here everything that goes on. If you do not treat your staff with respect they deserve and you do not manage correctly you will lose employees. After what I saw and witnessed I am disgusted and I feel terrible for that young lady and the servers who needed help last night from their leader who failed them. I never understood how some of the least qualified people end up in a...
Read moreMillers Ale House restaurant welcomed us with a varied and appetizing gastronomic offer. We started our culinary experience with the Creamy Spinach & Artichoke Dip, a vegetarian appetizer that, although delicious, was overly salty on this occasion. Nevertheless, its irresistible flavor made us overlook this small inconvenience, especially when paired with tortilla chips, which turned out to be an excellent choice.
We continued with the main course, where the Ribeye stood out. This juicy, 12-ounce piece of meat, cooked to a perfect medium-rare as requested, was a delight for the palate. The choice of melted garlic butter and the touch of blackened seasoning added an extra flavor that complemented the dish perfectly. The side of broccoli and mashed potatoes was on point, serving as an excellent counterpoint to the richness of the meat.
In contrast, the Atlantic Salmon, although well-presented and of adequate size, was somewhat dry and overcooked. Despite this, the overall flavor was acceptable, and the side of mashed potatoes and broccoli helped to balance the experience.
A special mention goes to the Mimi’s Fiesta Chicken & Shrimp Bowl, a new dish on the menu, inspired by a member of the restaurant's team. This dish was a total hit, according to my daughter, who enjoyed it to the fullest. The combination of grilled chicken, blackened shrimp, black bean corn salsa, cilantro lime rice, chimichurri, creamy red chili sauce, pickled red onions, shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, and queso fresco resulted in a feast of flavors and textures that delighted our palates.
Last but not least, we concluded our experience with the classic Capt. Jack’s Buried Treasure. This dessert, consisting of triple-layered vanilla ice cream cake, Oreo® cookie crust, Heath® Bar crunch crumble, caramel, and hot fudge sauce, is our all-time favorite. The combination of textures and flavors creates an indulgent experience that always leaves us satisfied.
Despite some minor setbacks, such as the excess salt in the appetizer and the overcooked salmon, the exceptional attention of the waitress and the manager, who made sure our experience was enjoyable, made our visit memorable. We especially appreciate the gesture of allowing us to enjoy the appetizer until the end of the meal (lol). This, along with our long history as repeat customers, leads us to rate Millers Ale House as a recommended place to enjoy good food in a welcoming atmosphere.
