I was excited to try Puerto Rican-style Chinese food. It was delicious. I’ve had San Francisco style (hello dim sum), Hawaiian-style (crispy gau gee and cake noodles), South Carolina style (spaghetti posing as lo mein), Barcelona style (canned bamboo and mushrooms), SoCal style (lotus root and whole deep fried fish), Peruvian style (yummy: fire up the wok!), Austrian style (watered down sweet red sauce) and Nebraska style (bland beef broccoli).
At Rico Chino they added ham to the house fried rice along with really good bbq pork (aka char siu: pork glazed with a sweet five-spice syrup, difficult to make) and shrimp. The fried rice did not have any egg, green onions, beef or chicken (see photo). The rice wasn’t sticky nor was it greasy. It tasted like maybe Canilla parboiled rice was used.
I also tried the House Noodle Soup, which had a great broth. The noodles were white and tasted like from scratch ramen noodles. It could have used a bit more salt. These were topped with very flavorful thinly sliced tender beef, chicken and fresh shrimp, plus green onions, a bit of bok choy cabbage and julienned carrots. You do not add soy sauce to this soup! The broth is so good that if you think it needs salt add table salt.
The restaurant was spotless and had several tables available with two large screen tvs and some Latin music in the background. It was counter serve.
I’d order the soup again on a cold winter day. It hit the spot. And the bbq pork...
Read moreI came here at 9:15 to pick up an order at place. They told me 20 minutes and I had got here in 25 and the order wasn’t ready, but they were nice. We got back to the Airbnb, which was about 15 minutes away from the restaurant and realized two orders were missing. It was 950 and we called up until about 10 with no answer. Then we decided to drive back, although they would be close, hoping someone will be inside and answer. we are outside for about 10 minutes knocking and no one came to the door so we gave up. I came back a day later and spoke to the person who took care of us. I explained what happened and the timing of everything and they have cameras, I even told them they could look at the cameras and see that we were knocking out the door. He told me he wasn’t doing a refund because he wrapped my order and he was sure that everything was in there. food was OK but definitely not worth all this hassle or the...
Read moreThis isn't Chinese food. This is what it looks like when you try to make something you've never tried before. The pan fried dumplings don't waste your time. Go to Walmart and get a bag of frozen dumplings and it's the same thing. For the price they charge for 6, you can get a whole bag. The flavor was just not it. We bought 3 different things at it was all terrible. If you've never had Chinese food you will think this isn't bad but if you've had Chinese before your going to feel the same as me. They over use soy sauce and use curry where curry shouldn't be. I didn't order anything with curry yet still got it. Just bad food. Definitely...
