What a hidden gem!!!! This place is amazing. We had great service and great food. As soon as we walked in we were treated as VIPs, something that doesn’t happen at every restaurant. Anna, our waitress, provided not only amazing recommendations, but also some history of the restaurant and local area. After her recommendations of what beer would pair with what food, we decided and ordered. And WOW, it was majestic. We first ordered the lobster chowder as an appetizer. My wife and I then ordered the hot butter lobster roll and our son ordered the lobster state roll with mayo. We paired it with a great local Pilsner. The order came with a side order of fries. Anna brought out the chowder and the presentation was great but even better was the taste. Best. Lobster. Chowder. Ever. It paired nicely with the local beer. Anna brought our main course out next and, honestly, we’re the best lobster rolls we have ever had. The presentation was on point. The lobster was buttered perfectly, the bun was toasted crisply on the outside and soft on the inside, and lastly, the lobster was perfectly cooked and was not chewy. Or too lumpy. During the late lunch, Anna often checked in on us and refilled our drinks promptly. I would also like to point out that the lobster chowder made a great dipping sauce for the fires. The friendly staff allowed us to take pictures and even introduced us to individual who made our meal, Chef Jason. We stayed in this restaurant for a long time enjoying our meal and the great conversations between ourselves and the staff. Lastly, Anna brought out a beautifully presented plate of crab tacos Topped with a pineapple guacamole sauce. OMG these crab tacos were some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. THE ONLY ISSUE IS THE GPS LOCATION. The gps is off if you use google maps. The restaurant location just north of Cutts Road. THIS PLACE IS NOT JUST GOOD, IT IS A DESTINATION RESTAURANT. No matter where you are, it is definitely worth the trip to visit. The service, the staff; the presentation of our late lunch, and the Chef make this...
Read moreWe tried State Line today on a bit of a whim. We came home from running errands all day and wanted an easy solution for an early dinner that fit three different palates. From the moment we walked in everyone was friendly and welcoming. We’d called ahead to inquire if dogs were allowed on the deck which is always a bonus for us. They gave us a dog bowl and let us take our time figuring out the menu. My husband and I split the New England Meal and enjoyed getting a chance to try a bit of many things. The chowder was light and flavorful, not at all heavy or thick like so many others we find on the Seacoast. You could tell an actual person chopped the potatoes and bacon. I can’t wait to bring this home for easy meals when the cold weather resumes. The full belly clam strips were light and crispy. This is the perfect portion for two. We didn’t feel like we’d had a fried food overload, but it was still a treat. Coleslaw was tangy and fresh, again, not heavy. We also got a 6oz lobster roll as part of the meal. We chose chilled, with mayo. It was what I think of when I conjure up the classic NE lobster roll in my mind. Briny salty goodness, lightly dressed and plentiful. The roll was buttery and crispy in all the right places. Our son had the fried fish plate (haddock, I believe) with fries and a chocolate milk shake. The shake came first and he proclaimed the whipped cream to be “good” (this is exactly the high praise we hope to hear from our tween. It means much more than good). He loved the shake and finished off the whole thing, albeit slowly. It’s rich and filling, and they seem to put a lot of love into it. His fish and chips were also great. The fish was one large piece, and our son liked both the batter and the fish. This doesn’t always happen in our family so we were throwing high fives all around at our good fortune in coming here. Home now, happy and sated and completely grateful we have a new favorite place so...
Read moreFourth visit to State Line Lobster last week. I typically only post reviews after three or four meals at a restaurant. All four of my experiences dining at State Line Lobster have been exceptional. This time, even though this is primarily a seafood restaurant, I felt like trying the chicken sandwich and I must say it wasn’t just a standard fare chicken sandwich. It was lightly breaded and crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside with bacon, apple BBQ sauce, apple slaw, Havarti cheese & chipotle aioli. Simply delightful! The other guest I dined with had the lobster roll special which is more than a meal for most people with the stew and the clams.
Chef Jason Miller and his crew are very welcoming, Anna always has a smile and you can tell she likes her job and is proud of the food the restaurant serves. The haddock I had on two previous occasions was as fresh as it gets. The decor is simple and tasteful, very clean. Also a big plus - no white and red checkered tablecloths! I live and dine on the Seacoast every week and State Line Lobster is a must try for locals and...
