Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Knoxville

I don't know about the morning shift, but I can say for certain that we've never once had a pleasant experience with the night shift at this location. As the final straw, last night we went to this location and attempted to order a blt grilled cheese no bacon, as is on their menu online, which the staff member who made our order was very confused by. I understand that it seemed that the speakers may not have been carrying our voices well, but she seemed incredibly irritated by the order and kept asking if we wanted a burger or a combo. Eventually we thought we had cleared it up (having worked in food myself I understand that sometimes things online may not be offered at individual locations and that this can be frustrating)so we said no, okay, just a grilled cheese with lettuce and tomato if possible and she said okay.

We drove off with out food thinking all was well, only to get home and find that for some reason there was a burger patty on our item, and since myself and my roommate are both vegetarian, we had to throw it away, as it was inedible to us. We called Sonic corporate to get a refund on principal, and they sent a credit to my roommate who's card we had used for... a grilled cheese burger. A HALF credit, for a grilled cheese burger. I was very drunk (not driving) and very hungry and our apartment is up 4 flights of stairs so going out for more food isn't exactly super easy, and tbh not to be petty but it kind of ruined my night. They also frequently close before the hours stated on their website or google, though I don't know how much of that is anyone actually working at the location's fault, and they've always been very rude when we show up after close despite this, despite us not expecting to be served once we found out they were closed. All in all would recommend going to literally any other Sonic, at least on the...

Their slogan? "Service With the Speed of Sound." Who doesn't love Sonic? I mean, come on?! Drive-thru or drive-in fast food! There's just something nostalgic about driving into a Sonic. The have managed to successfully carry a part of our past into the future ... now only if we can get drive-in theaters back!

They have the typical fast food menu offering cheese burgers, both grilled & breaded chicken sandwiches, foot long chili cheese coneys and ... yes ... tater tots! I honestly do not know of ANY other fast food restaurants serving tater tots. Even their ice is popular with their customers, and again, unique to the chain. They'll even sell you a bag if you ask for it.

In my opinion, their food is good but aside from their foot long coney, tater tots and MY FAVORITE -- the Route 44 Cherry Limeade

We rarely ever go to this particular Sonic, only because our order is always messed up, or it just takes way too long. The service and servers are always polite. But that doesn’t excuse the quality. My wife and I ordered a 1. Double bacon cheeseburger 2. A grilled cheese 3. Side of tater tots 4. 5 piece cinnasnacks 5. Cherry limeade 6. Ocean water. The double bacon cheeseburger was terrible. The meat LOOKED like it had been sitting around for at least half an hour before served. And the TASTE was just dry, bland, and terrible. The TEMPERATURE of the patties and bacon, I would have never served that either. The grilled cheese, was just as bad if not worse than the cheeseburger. The bread was half toasted, the cheese was barely half melted, and even the cutting in half of the whole thing, wasn’t even cut all the way. Then when bagging it, it was just completely smashed to paper thin. The cinnasnacks, one of my favorite things, were absolutely terrible in look, and were cold inside and out.

I am a general manager of a restaurant, and I can not believe that food of that quality, temperature, and looks, was even sent out to a customer. The fact that we waited 15-20 minutes for it too, is just appalling.

Our desserts, and drinks, are always right and always good. But we won’t ever be...
