Mark's Sandwich Shop — Restaurant in Kutztown

I heard so many great things about this place but my experience was far from great. My husband and I both ordered cheese steaks. The amount of meat they gave you was nice but that was the only good part, they only had soft rolls and we personally like our cheese steak on a hard roll. The onions were very long... you bit one and the whole thing pulled out like a noodle lol. The meat didn't taste fresh.. and the sauce they used tasted like a combination between marinara and BBQ??!! It was strange and neither of us liked it. I got the Dutch fries but they were like chips and they should call them that, I never had such thin Dutch fries before.. they were always thicker. I also got milk shake, I saw they had an extra thick option but I didn't think it was necessary... boy was I wrong! My milkshake was very runny, so I asked them to make it thick for me if they could. Ordered a bacon Bleu cheese burger. Watched it being built. Asked the lady behind the counter, "I didn't know that Bleu cheese came in individual, pre-cut slices?" She said, "Oh no, that was white American cheese." "But I ordered a Bleu cheese burger." "Yeah," she said, "we put Bleu cheese dressing on it." I'm guessing that the person who added this item to the menu thought that students are stupid and wouldn't know the difference. I'm not even making a fuss about the fact that American cheese isn't cheese at all and should never be eaten, by anyone, for any reason. Very good food for great prices. The portions are also incredible: I don't think I've ever eaten Mark's and still been hungry afterwards. I usually get delivery, and the food arrives quickly. The times that I have eaten in, the atmosphere is nothing to write home about. They have TVs, a cooler that has Kutztown brand sodas, among other things, and a big menu on the wall. But the employees are incredibly friendly and I hear them having a good time every time I've walked in. If you're very hungry, I highly recommend one of their steak sandwiches.
