Edit of my review one year later 5/4/2025 I'd add pics if I could where it says what I'm referring to.
Sadly I have to edit my review. We have been very loyal customers and have frequented Fruiti Lab for over a year! I am so sad to say this is OUR LAST TIME coming here!! I am EXTREMELY disappointed in their business practices and pricing structure, customer service or lack thereof. There are NO prices on the menu but weve ordered plenty of things before so were somewhat familiar with the prices. Or so we thought!
We walked in Sunday after church for our usual fruit Lab treats and ordered the tostadas preparados which says clearly on the menu that it comes with 4 tostadas and includes beans, cabbage, fresh cheese, hot sauce and your choice of protein (meat obviously). Anyone in their right mind reading that is going to automatically assume that for the price of Tostadas preparados which are $6.00 (for 4 small snack sized tostadas by the way) INCLUDES EVERYTHING listed? Not to mention this isn't the first time weve ordered the tostadas preparados. It was $6 last time as well. Well apparently thats not the case anymore. We watched as the price of the $6.00 tostadas DOUBLED in price. When I asked in confusion why we were being charged $12.98 for tostadas that are supposed to only be $6.00 she said it was because we added meat!! Im like WHAT?? It says WITH your choice of protein!! It doesn't say anything about protein being an additional option you can add. We were charged $6.00 more to add beef which makes absolutely no sense. Every mexican restaurant or taco truck I've ever been to says the same thing and has never upcharged EXTRA to add the meat if it says on the menu that it also includes your choice of meat. If they want to start adding whatever price they want to make up on a whim to add meat then they need to just say that the tostadas do not include any meat. That it's just a plain tostadas for $6.00. For almost $13.00 plus tax for 4 tiny tostadas with a thin layer of meat on them I'd much rather go somewhere else and get a full meal. That is ridiculous!! Thats like having a taco on your menu and it saying "Your choice of meat" but when you tell them which meat you picked from their list of meat choices, suddenly they say the meat is extra!! Price structure is very shady! By not listing the prices clearly on the menu it allows them to add on or change them on the fly. You have no idea what you're even being charged for or paying for at the end of it all. And if you don't speak Spanish you won't really be able to get a clear answer either.
I am a strong believer in supporting local businesses but when you have been loyal for over a year and you have to walk out because they are being inconsistent and shady about prices and dont even bother to honor the pricing even when it is CLEAR AS DAY "AND YOUR CHOICE OF PROTEIN" unfortunately, that is a business I can no longer support. I'm sorry because we really loved this place. Me my husband and boys are all sorely disappointed!
I will miss the salsa though!
This is by FAR the BEST place we have found in Kyle! Every single thing we have tried has far exceeded our expectations. The owner and the service is outstanding. They go way above and beyond and genuinely care about their customers and freshness / quality of food. Their queso ice cream is what kept us coming back, but the more we tried, the more we had to come back for. The salsa!! Omg I can't say enough about how bomb the salsa is. BEST salsa I think I've ever had in my life. I wish I could buy it by the barrels! Everything is so full of flavor. Prices are extremely fair too. When everyone in the Kyle area has overpriced their mediocre drinks & desserts, Frutti Lab knows just how to do it and quite frankly, others should take notes. Hidden gem here!! We are loyal...
Read moreKyle does not have an over abundance of ice cream places like they do Mexican or Chicken joints. I walked in and there were 5 employees just standing around. I go up to the counter and the lady asks, "Are you wanting to order food?" Food? I thought it was a Fruteria place? I just came for the fruit and ice cream. Employees are not overtly friendly. I ordered and Oreo shake. When they brought it to me, they had not blended all of the ice, so there were still big chunks of it at the bottom. I asked for a larger straw, which they did not have. Why would have an Oreo shake, but not have a straw large enough where you can get all of the pieces out? There is a Nutritional Shake place that I do frequent that does have larger straws for this same reason. The Shake was "meh". It was more watery than anything. I did not see any pieces of Oreo in there at all. How do you have a Oreo Shake without Oreos in it? Most people came here for the fruit cups. This place is an awkward location. The parking lot is a tad bit sketchy as the speed bumps will ruin your car if you are not careful going over them.
Great idea for a Fruteria place. I was not throughly impressed. I thought it could have...
Read moreI had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant and felt compelled to share. I didn’t catch her name, but one of the workers (a kind, bilingual lady) went above and beyond during our visit. Despite being incredibly busy fulfilling online orders and helping other customers, she took the time to help me figure out what to get for my son, who has special needs and struggles with chewing due to his disability.
She patiently listened and offered suggestions, and we ended up ordering a Coctel de frutas for him, and although the fruit was already chopped, she meticulously cut each piece even smaller so my son could SAFELY enjoy it without me having to do it myself. That thoughtful gesture meant the world to me.
It’s rare to come across service that feels this genuine and caring. She didn’t have to do any of that—but she did, and with such kindness and patience. Thank you for making our visit feel so seen and cared for. We will...
