I went to Tequila with friends during Oktoberfest. My friend who had been there before said she had great food and normal service. The 7 of us waited for an hour and 15 min for our food to arrive.
Four of our meals were good, not outstanding but good. Two of our friends said their food (beef chimichanga and vegetarian plate) tasted like ravioli from a can and another had a chicken chimichanga with unidentified pink chunks.
One friend approached the manager or owner, Miguel, and stated that his food was the worst Mexican he had and he thought it was unacceptable. Miguel was very defensive and was yelling at him for complaining, possibly because my friend was talking loudly (over the music, which the speaker was next to our table). We also asked what was in chicken chimichanga and Miguel stated that they mix vegetables into the filling, we asked what kind of vegetable that was and he didn’t know, and it was not listed on the menu that vegetables were in the dish. Miguel said to our table that the friend who didn’t eat his food could get his meal for free but everyone else needed to pay, and shouted that no one else had a problem and we all need to pay.
In this experience I thought the wait was excessive for the quality of food, and the confrontation was very unprofessional. A business owner or representative should be working to improve customer satisfaction by replacement/substitution/refund to promote a positive view of the establishment. We did not leave a tip. I was...
Read moreFirst ordered Mexican style shredded chicken with a corn tortilla cilantro and onion. Received a grilled chicken taco in a flour tortilla with leaf lettuce. Very cheap as in low quality not money. Found a hair in are food, but still paid for the food. They didn't have any cilantro. But remember this is an authentic Mexican restaurant. To top it off the owner of the restaurant came to our table and reprimanded us to tell us that we were indeed wrong and that it is authentic and that there is nothing wrong with the food. He was insulted as it was clearly obvious with how he was speaking to us in a defensive manner. He claimed that for twenty years his food is good and that we didn't know what we were talking about. We asked him why he was continuing to go on at our table as we started to feel uncomfortable from him being so upset that we didn't like his food. It was like an episode of kitchen nightmares! The waiter came over and cleared our plates and didn't come back for some time, so we left our 12.63 cents and tip at the table. As we walked out the owner then (after belittling us in Spanish and laughing with co workers) followed us to the door asking why we are walking out without paying. He continued on and we assurred him that we left the money at the table. By that time it was scary how angry this guy was and so we left as fast as we could. *the chips and...
Read moreWe came to Tequila’s as a large group for my birthday. First of all, they lost my reservation so did not have anywhere to seat our party when we arrived. We were seated in the bar area, and the music was excessively loud. When I asked if he could turn down the volume, our waiter told us he would “check with the manager”. Needless to say, the music never got turned down even though it was only 7:30pm and no one was at the bar. The waiter never told us we would all be billed together, so at the end of our meal we were surprised to learn he wouldn’t split the bill. Our waiter told us we could pay separately at the check out counter, but 3/4 of the item on our bill were labeled “miscellaneous” so we didn’t know how to separate the bill. Plus, by that point, there were so many people at the front that it was nearly impossible to actually get to the counter to pay our bill. I would highly recommend against going to Tequila’s for any large groups. The service was horrible and the staff all seemed very inconvenienced by the fact that they had to serve our...
