What a disappointing experience I had today with La Habra’s Tierra Mia. In short: another patron ruined my experience and the manager fell extremely short in making it right. Details of the events described below.
I arrive to Tierra Mia with my dog (leashed) around 5:45pm on Friday, 6/27 with intent to purchase beverages and food, and lounge on the patio. 2 dogs, unleashed and uncollared, run up to my dog and me as I step into the outdoor seating area. I react defensively, as any decent dog owner would. I block my dog from these dogs. Whose dogs are they? Are they aggressive? Will they bite one of us or instigate a fight? I had 2 seconds from seeing them to them approaching, so what is one to expect?
All people on the patio are silent for about 10 seconds, when I finally ask aloud whose dogs these are. The owner recalls them, then proceeds to criticize my dog handling, further stating that “dogs are social animals” and “are just excited to meet each other”. In the appropriate context, like a dog park, sure. Is Tierra Mia now registered as a dog park? More words were exchanged between myself and the other dog owner. I decided to consult the manager of the establishment before I was going to order.
I chat with the manager, whose name I didn’t get (Hispanic man with mustache in 30’s?), and tell him the series of events. I am a customer approaching the establishment with intent to purchase food, and I had an experience on the property with another patron. I NEVER ask to speak with a manager EVER.
The response? “Yeah, sorry that happened, but this man is a regular and his dogs are good, and we can’t intervene with interpersonal concerns”. Taken aback by this careless response, I decided against purchasing food/drink there and informed him that this regular is driving their patrons away - as was his nonchalant response. That’s only when the manager decided something should be addressed. “I’ll talk to him” finally after spelling out to this man why this is inappropriate.
We arrived with intent to purchase drinks and enjoy the ambiance, and left without purchasing anything due to this disappointing experience.
To the owners of Tierra Mia La Habra: Per OCCO 4-1-45, dog must be on a leash off owner’s personal property with the exception of dog parks. Considering this is a food establishment, I find it interesting that the manager felt that because the man is a regular, that it was an exception and other patrons simply had to succumb to this.
If you as a review reader cares about a company’s virtues, they were clearly reflected in this experience. An example of how a company makes things right- I had a poor experience at another food establishment with a patron. That other food establishment gave us a gift card for a free meal. THAT demonstrates strong virtues. Tierra Mia’s management clearly has a lot to learn about that.
Disappointed doesn’t encompass how much of a let down this was. I have already informed friends and family to refrain from...
Read moreI love Tierra Mia. My favorite place to get coffee or a sweet treat.
☕️DRINKS☕️ My favorite and highly recommended drink is the horchata frappe. It definitely one of the best frappe I've ever had. It's creamy and cinnamon-y. And if you're not a coffee drinker, there is also many selections of iced and hot teas. My favorite non-coffee drink is the Strawberry iced Matcha latte, that one is very good too and if you don't drink caffeine there is also frappes without coffee and hot chocolate.
🥐PASTRIES 🥐 The pastries are the best. My most recommended is the Tres Leche muffin, it's so moist and delicious and if your ask for warm up it's even better. If Tres Leche is not your thing there's other delicious options too like; chocolate chip, churro, banana nut muffin, almond Danish, croissants etc
🚘 PARKING & DRIVE-THRU🚘
There's always parking available, never from my experience have I had trouble find parking here. Now the drive thru, weekends the drive thru can be busy especially Sundays. But don't be intimidated, it always moving. During the weekdays, it's mostly busy during the morning but not crazy long.
Hopefully this review help you convince to tried this place out. You won't regret it. I know there will be something here that you will like☺️ have a nice...
Read moreFirst of- I'm a tea shop person reviewing a coffee shop. If my only reference point was Starbucks, this would be 5 stars.
Food- okay. my frappe wasn't blended long enough, so I both had chunks of ice and could tell they used a powder. Despite this, it tasted damn good, if not at all like horchata.
Service- awesome. They were working incredibly hard to make the drive through orders, and still all seemed genuinely in a good mood. Whatever pay they're getting- add to it, they're lovely.
Price- good.
Atmosphere- Terrible. I can verify that the drive through is often a long line, but the interior is worse. Despite beautiful decor and lots of sunlight, there's a huge problem with noise. The hum of the machines and drink making sounds, mixed with a speaker system that is not high enough quality for the volume it's played at. They desperately need to look into reducing noise, because for a place with almost silent customers it was as loud as a classroom. It was also dirty, but with how busy they were at the drive through portion I...
