I ordered a pizza from D'amatos for delivery the other day. I was given a 45 minute ball park figure from the phone receptionist. After the pizza didn't show up for an hour I called the receptionist back and was assured that the pizza was on its way. (it is relevant that I live less than a mile away from the business). After another 15 minutes passed I called back and was again assured that the pizza would be there any minute. Again, it did not come. So I called again and asked to speak the manager in which I was told she was to busy to take my call. I explained to the receptionist that we had ordered the pizza at 6:15 and it was now 8:00 and my daughter had to go to bed. She reassured me the pizza was on its way. I was pretty angry at her shining me on, so I hung up on her. At 8:10 the delivery boy called me to see if I still wanted the pizza. I explained to hime that my daughter was in bed and there was no more need for the pizza. I asked again if I could talk to the manager. Unfortunately the delivery boy had called me from his private phone as he was out delivering pizzas. He explained that he had put my pizza at the end of his route and tried to accept full blame for the situation. However, I'm pretty sure it doesn't take an hour and ten minutes to deliver a pizza less than a mile away. The manager should have spoken to me and told me they couldn't deliver within the time promised and given me the consideration of cooking an alternative dinner for my child or asks me if I would be willing to pick it up. But, in an hour and 50 minutes she couldn't be bothered to chat with a customer that was unhappy. I have never had a manager refuse to talk to me. This was the rudest behavior from a person of authority I have ever experienced. The only person who was truthful and forthcoming was the delivery boy which was not his job. ...
Read moreUpdate to my below: Today being a Monday. As I call 2:20pm (The week following the cooking rag/propane tank --- fire explosion that was in downtown La Mesa.) When I called D'Amatos, there was no answer. Reminisicing me of the incident, as if D'Amatos had some problem of their own going on. When D'Amatos NOT Answer During Their Posted Business Hours. As that be of no convenience, to a past customer. Whom chose to give D'Amatos another opportunity.
The only reason why D'Amatos should choose to not answer their phone, on my 3 calls, be if D'Amatos had such an emergency. (had the phone still operated).
D'Amatos has a tomatos sauce that keeps me as a repeat customer.Add the pricing of their pizzas.Extra sauce not enuff? (as been in an earlier order I had) I was told to "Ask for 'extra, extra sauce."I did that on the next order; as the amount of tomato sauce (unexpectedly) was very satisfying. So on my next order, which been Labor Day Weekend -- I thought to be as consistent. But rather not.(as tomato sauce be more priorty to me, --- just as cheese be to others)This was ordered as an item to be delivered. When I opened the Large cheese pizza, the cheese was stiff, as if slabs were only put on top. With the pizza underbaked.Actually, the pizza cheese was thinner & more spread out (BETTER) -- app 18 hours later. That be the next day, after the pizza been wrapped in aluminum foil/its box & refrigerated -- and I baked 2 slices at a chosen temp. The cheese spread around perfectly. The perfect amount of sauce underneath. But the baking of the next day, at the same temp, the cheese be inconsistent. And worst of all in all cases: more loss of tomato sauce for each slice that I...
Read moreIgnore the low reviews because this place is so dang good. I went to Baskin robbins one night and as I was leaving the smell of the pizza forced me to whip around to see where it was coming from. There was a guy standing outside waiting for his pizza and I asked if it was good. He replied that it was the best pizza in the area hands down. I thought about this place for the 2 weeks following until I finally had the chance to order it with my family.
The way they layer the toppings within the cheese is absolutely perfect!
The pepperoni has great flavor and does not overpower with the spice
The artichoke is so flavorful and of great quality
The mushrooms are tender and light in flavor to not overpower the other ingredients.
The outside of the crust was a cooked at the right temperature so it starts to blacken a little which gives it that woodfired flavor that pizza lovers know to complete a perfect pizza.
Hands down the best pizza I've had in San Diego...
