I really hate giving bad reviews, but this time I must. I want with my friend to dinner and then a movie. He talked me into pizza and said Mamma Mia's was great. I wasn't in the mood for pizza, but let him choose this time. Typically you can get other dishes at pizza places. So I looked over the menu and saw a cold sandwich that on paper looked wonderful. It was the super cold cut (or some variation of that name) on the menu it said it came with ham, pepperoni, salami, and capicola as the meats with lettuce, tomatoes and onions. I'm not a fan of ham sandwiches so I asked the waiter if they could substitute the ham for turkey also if it has any dressing on it. He walked off to talk to the chef, he comes back and says that yes they can switch the ham for turkey and no dressing on the sandwich. I asked for mayo on it and for the turkey. My friend asks for the pepperoni pizza with extra sauce. 10 mins later my sandwich arrives but not my friend's pizza. So I wait to eat my sandwich for my friend's pizza to come out. While waiting I start to look at my sandwich, it's a lot of lettuce and it seems little meat. As I'm looking through the sandwich I don't see any capicola. I love capicola, it's a spicy soft sausage that is just amazing. It's the main reason I went with this sandwich. So I call the waiter over and ask why there isn't capicola on it. He goes to the kitchen then comes back and says they are out of it. So now I'm slightly upse. He had asked before I ordered it if we could substitute one meat for another, and the chef didn't think at that time to inform him that they were out of capicola? I would not have ordered the sandwich if I had known that. Also at this time it's been 20 mins since we ordered 10 mins since I got my sandwich. We have had to ask another server for refills on our drinks. I had water and my friend unsweet tea. There were 4 server's when we went, ours kept disappearing and just not paying us attention. 30 mins after ordering and 20 mins after I got my disappointing sandwich the pizza came. I know pizza takes longer to cook then a cold sandwich. But the cook and server should have timed it better when bringing it to the table. I knew his pizza was going to take longer then my order and I was prepared to wait. It was hard to have my food in front of me and not eat, but I did it. Thankfully it was a cold sandwich, if I had ordered a hot sandwich it would have been luke warm at best and cold at worst by the time my friends food arrived. His pizza was very good, I like the sauce and the cheese did the pizza cheese challenge. When we pulled a slice off the cheese stretched and went on for a good while. We were there at a slow time, only 2 other tables in the place. And only 2 other people came in while we where there, the 2 that were there when we came in left about 5mins after we sat down. I would recommend the pizza, but maybe...
Read moreMy current review for Valentine's Day 2025: I worked late & promised my kids I would take them out to eat to celebrate how special they are to me and well every restaurant was packed but I asked my daughter to call Mama Mia's to see if they were still open & to ask how much of a wait time there is to be seated...my daughter called & it was a little after 9pm & they said they were open and there was a 10 minute wait...we get there and there was actually a table that had just became available so we were able to sit down! Plus, the restaurant's usual close hour is 10pm but they made a special exception to stay open until 11pm just because it is Valentine's Day...that was sweet! Their service still 5 star even on a busy day as today! Their food is authentic, no imitation seafood or anything at that! I had the shrimp and lobster modimio with tortellini and it was delicious!! Must try! Portion was so huge, I definitely needed a to go container! Several flavors of cheesecake & other desserts to choose from. P.s...This place is BYOB for those that like to have wine with their Italian meals! Next celebration, give this gem a try! Prev review: Mamma Mia's came through for me today!! I've eaten here plenty times with my children before and their pizza is huge, delicious & kid approved! All the Italian meals I've had here are so authentic and delicious plus big portions! The staff is friendly and accommodating! Huge shout out for making my big order happen on such short notice for a doctor's luncheon I had today at 11am! It's a mom and pop or family owned restaurant and for sure a hidden gem so I must rave about it so you all can go try it out for...
Read moreThey lost a $50 order tonight because they refused to prepare a large pepperoni pizza with pepperoni only on 3/4 of the pizza. They informed me they could only do a half and half pepperoni pizza per the owner and management instructions. Of course neither owner or a manger was on site. I asked them to call the owner or manager and make sure they really wanted to loose an order of a large surpreme, large pepperoni and appetizers and a drink while I waited about $50 total because they couldn't simply prepare a pepperoni pizza with pepperoni on only 3/4 of the pizza. The staff did call and were told no they could only do half and half. Utterly ridiculous. So Pappa Murphey on center steett got my business and Mamma Mia's lost business over a stupid decision to not prepare a pepperoni pizza with pepperoni only on 3/4 of it. Good business plan....NOT!!!!! UPDATE Contacted by owners brother same night. He sincerely apologized for the actions of the staff and told me that if we decided to give them another chance to contact him directly, even gave me his phone number, and he would make sure I got what I wanted and he would make it right. Tonight we decided to give them that second chance. The service was excellent. Different staff and owners brother was working in the kitchen. Got exactly what my wife and daughter wanted for both pizzas including the 1/4 cheese and 3/4 pepperoni no problem. Pizzas were excellent and staff was great. Customer service like it should be. Thanks to the staff and Beny!!!! BACK...
