We had take-out from Canto Bistro at a friends house. The food was really good so as a group of six we decided to go to the restaurant and dine in. I checked their website to see if the took reservations. Did not see anything about it. It was a Saturday so we went and got there at 4:50 pm. We were greeted with “how many”, instead of “good evening” or “hello”. I told her six, please. “Do you have a reservation?” She looked all around the restaurant like there was a problem. There were two tables seated! I told her that we hurried to get there for happy hour as I saw on the website it was from 3:00-5:00. She said they were no long serving happy hour. I looked at my watch and it was 4:50. She said it ended at 4:50. I was trying to joke and be friendly, but she was not having it. She checked with a tall man that had approached the desk. He said it was okay, but we had to order now! We hadn’t even been seated yet! Once we were seated, no server came. We waved the hostess over and told her we’d like to order our happy hour drinks. She said she’s not out server. Our server finally came by and we’re able to order our drinks, which came pretty quickly. It took her a long time to take our food orders and then a long time for the food to come out, one, by one. The food was really good and hot. Some of the dishes seemed a little small compared to others. Not sure why. And they do not have brown rice. And the only Fried Rice was an entree. The tables were out together and wobbly…sticky. So that was not impressive. Overall, very good food, but the service is slow and not friendly. And they could pay more attention to the cleanliness and comfort of their dining room.
UPDATE: We visited again on August 12, 2023. This time we made a reservation for the large round table in the back. It has a lazy Susan which is very convenient for sharing. The hostess was much more friendly this time and service was prompt. The food...
Read moreA mess, where to start... Since our order is specific I will point ingredients:
Appetizer was cold inside, usually is cold outside but burning inside, also the cabbage was past the date and the sourness of the yellowing overtook.
Main dish, pork was cold chewy hard, that means the flame wasnt high enough and wasn't simmering properly. The chicken plate was over 82% veggies (yes, we ended doing the math)... The rice... 6 pieces of the meat... Portions are standard on the skimpy side.
Also we didn't tell the waiting staff but they put the straw with paper inside the drink... Papery flavor yum.
The food is not even panda express level because was cold, Asian cuisine stand proud due to steaming plates, yet either the kitchen is effing up the flame to explain how the meats end hard and cooling down so fast, waiting staff is not picking the dishes and well someone need to do basic training, I'm not asking a Michelin level but literally better go to the other places around that have lower stars... This 4.x is unearned and made me think they hired writers.
Also waiting time is crazy when sauteed is basic for speed on asian cuisine and the price is too high for the quality you get.
Also, the building while nice decorated they missed some maintenance spots getting ugly by age but only reason we noticed because we waited almost over 40 minutes for standard plates on the cuisine.
And yes it's too dark to hide but bored guests are gonna judge around.
Save your money and just go to other places near here using Google maps. First time I wish we went the other option for just...
Read moreI had been at this restaurant a few times already food is good so I called and placed an order for pick up, when I picked up my food the cashier notify me that he had to take my food out of the bag & check it, that it was a new policy, I said okay. The cashier did not sanitized his hands nor put gloves on before taking all my food out of the bag, I told him to talk to the manager to please provide gloves & sanitizer for them before touching the food because he handles money all day & money had a lots of bacteria. About 2 weeks later I called in again & order food but the same thing happened cashier handle my food with out sanitizing his hands nor putting gloves on. I told her that the was not good hygiene to be touching my food after handling money. She told me to speak with the manager so I did a man came out an introduced him self as one of the owners Chan. I very nicely told him that it would be good to provide he's cashier gloves & hand sanitizer because of the germs money has, he became very defensive, loud & rude he refused to comply with my request by saying he didn't have to & that he wasn't going too & if I didn't like it to call the health department that he didn't care. I told him that it was for everyone's safety & health. I let him know that I will not be eating there anymore if he didn't provide sanitizer & gloves for the cashiers, but he told me to leave & if I didn't like it not to eat there. After this experience at this place Please beware of there unreasonable hygiene carelessness they have...
