Found this place because my usual spot was over crowded and WOW is this a hidden gem! The service and food is all amazing! I would definitely recommend it to any Thai food lovers!
First let's mention the atmosphere, nice quiet restaurant, has a very relaxed restaurant/diner mom and pops feel. Dark decor, great lighting, it has a nice modern feel which is something new in a Thai place.
Now the food! I had the Chef Sampler Platter, the Ginger Semang with their combo seafood, the Peanut Pleasure with chicken, a Thai iced tea, and for dessert the mango on sticky rice. And no, I could eat it all, I definitely had to take some home, the portion sizes are generous.
The Sampler: I didn't get the tofu so mine had 5 egg rolls with a sweet and sour dipping sauce, 2 chicken satays with a peanut dipping sauce and a cucumber salad, and then 2 pot sticks with a plum sauce. Everything was cooked perfectly, the chicken had a great grilling and the fried foods were a perfect crisp. As for the sauces, they were the real stars. The plum sauce was rich and had great depth, the sweet and sour sauce has an amazing balance between the chilies and the sweetness. And the peanut sauce....is out of this world good!
The Ginger Semang: For this dish I got the seafood combination which came with muscles, calamari (very nice sized as well), prawns, and scallops. This dish is mainly filled with your traditional Thai veggies. But everything was cooked perfectly. I also got a 2/4 for spice and let me tell you...it is SPICY! Even with a good spice tolerance a 2 was up there in spice. So if you love spice, they don't mess around.
The Peanut Pleasure: I got the chicken with this one. It is a simple dish, a side of rice with chicken and peanut sauce on a bed of spinach. The peanut sauce is the star of this dish. As for the rest, it does leave a little to be desired. I feel that some bell peppers would go a long way into elevating this dish. But overall it is still excellent.
The Thai iced tea: Very refreshing and great flavor. Not much else to say, it's just a great drink.
The Mango over sweet sticky rice: OMG is this good. Luckily for me mangos were in season when I came in. This dessert is crazy good. The rice is moist and sweet. By itself its good but with the fresh mango it is a home run. This dish is...
Read moreI do not like leaving bad reviews. If you go look at all my other reviews, I only tend to leave absolutely glowing reviews. This experience was so terrible and I’m blown away that I had to leave my first bad review. Let it be noted that the restaurant was basically empty on a Friday night. Should have been my first clue there might be issues. I have been dying to find a decent Thai place close to me and was excited to try this one out. I order an appetizer and entree. The entree came out first. I asked the server to go ahead and cancel the appetizer since I got my meal and it defeated the purpose now. She was talking loud to the kitchen staff so I hear that it was her fault she put my order in backwards and now she was going to have to pay for the appetizer out of her own money. Way to make me feel guilty. I told her never mind and to just bring out the appetizer. For my entree I ordered soup. And by that I mean just the basic broth no added veggies, tofu, or meat. When my check came it was more than expected. Why, because I guess they charged me extra for not having anything added to the broth because that makes sense! When I brought this to my server’s attention, she said that my price should be less than the price for veggies/tofu/chicken because I didn’t get anything and she would fix it. They got busy with a bunch of take out orders and left me in lurch for 5 minutes. Finally, I went up to the counter and instead of charging me less, they charged me the price that I it was if I had gotten chicken. I asked her to fix it and she said, I can’t, it is how the computer is and proceeded to answer more take out calls. I was fuming. So I just overpaid for my food, and told them I would never be back.
Now, I’m looking at how quickly my leftover soup separated within minutes of leaving and I’m even...
Read moreOrdered takeout. The chicken satay was bagged in paper sleeves, like you would get a corndog from the gas station in. This allowed the oil from the chicken to leak all over the place as we took the packages out to prepare to eat. In addition, the spring rolls were wrapped directly in plastic cling wrap, which ripped the spring rolls open as we tried to eat them.
I called the restaurant to offer feedback and seek a solution. It felt like nobody there knew how to handle the situation nor understood why it would feel frustrating as a customer to arrive home with my food only to have the way it was packaged cause a mess in my home and damage the food itself. After fifteen minutes of waiting on the phone, I was told all they could do is contact grubhub to get me a refund on just the items I had the particular issue with. Nothing additional to compensate my time and frustration and no assurances from employees that they would seek to correct these issues in the future.
And to top it all off, the food was cold despite not being ready until almost a half hour after it was supposed to be. There are a lot better options for Thai food in Thurston County, avoid Martin Way Pattaya Thai
Edit: The person who runs this establishment, upon seeing my negative review, forced their employees to call me and ask me to remove my review. Very shady behavior and not at all appropriate to ask of your employees. I sincerely hope Pattaya Thai Lacey examines how they run their business and makes some serious changes if they want positive reviews and word-of-mouth from...
