Sadly, it was a problem with the server who didn't care, Justyce. Let me explain.
It was our first time at this location (had been to the one in Ocala for years without problems). Sure it was busy. We arrived right about 5 PM. It was busy and we had a short, expected wait.
We here seated and served without any issues. The food was good and served hot. The Mahi tacos and the burger were great.
The server slid by and put the receipt down as we were finishing the meal, around 6:15 PM. She never asked or attempted to remove the empty beverage glass, never asked fir a dessert order (bad assuption if she was trying to increase her per-head check average as I typically order their Captain Jack dessert), and I had an entire taco left over which I wanted to take. We watched her walk by a number of times NEVER asking for our dessert order, or boxing up my remaining food (see the pic of the food on my plate sitting at the edge of the table for 25 minutes.
It appeared she had a 3 or 4 table station and the place was much slower -- several empty tables by now. I would excuse a busy server, but this wasn't the case.
After the 25 minutes of obvious abandonment, I went to the hostess to tell some that we want to skip our planned desserts, pay our bill, and just leave. The general manager finally presented to the table right after I spoke to the hostess (who kindly silently paged the GM to come to us).
He came over the same time the server came by (coincidence?) to offer us a to-go box. I explained we were done with the place and just wanted to pay. The GM offered a $10 gift card (pretty platry amount to stop losing customers) to recover from the incident. Sorry, too late for that, and the GM never asked if the gift card would even make up for meal. I wasn't looking for that; I just wanted an ear and a simple apology.
In reference, my wife and I have 25 years of combined experience in ALL positions in the restaurant business, including server training. I have never experienced such an indifferent server. If Justyce is representative of the typical server here, I'll suggest to ask for someone else, but enjoy the food...but I can't speak to their desserts as we were never offered the opportunity to try them.
I posted some...
Read moreWe arrived before 11pm, and got seated very quickly, but that's where the good experience ended. Our waiter introduced himself (his name was Nate), took our drink orders (which was a water and sprite)....and proceeded to disappear. It took us 15 minutes. And he came one time before that to let us know that he didn't have our drinks. After finally receiving our drinks, Nate took our orders....for which it took 40 minutes to come out to us. And another 5 - 10 for my partners fajitas to come out behind my meal, after he claimed he was going right back to get them. But, you know, wink at me and be flirty instead of actually doing your job, right? We actually had to flag down the hostess to ask if there was an issue, since we had seen people come in after us already get their food. I ordered the chicken scampi skillet, and it was fantastic. Great first impression on food. My partner got the fajitas....and found, despite being on a sizzling griddle, that the meat (medium rare) was still cool on the outside, and VERY lacking in seasonings. It hardly tasted as if it had even been salted. We brought this up to the attention of Nate, and he essentially just told us to heat it up ourselves on the edge of the skillet. We had been there long enough that my partner immediately ordered donuts since we actually wanted dessert, and hopefully could order them before the kitchen closed at this point. We finally received those... my partner tried one, then asked me to try one. They had so much potential, but instead it had apparently been left in the fryer for to long, and we're just almost just entirely crispy balls of grease. At this point we are done, we just want to leave. We looked for our waiter to flag him down for 10 - 15 minutes, for which we again had to flag down the hostess to ask for our check. She had to hunt him down because she could not find them. He finally returns, we tell him we want the check, he tells us okay, STARTS FLIRTING AND STARTING A CONVERSATION WITH ME, FOR WHICH MY VERY OBVIOUSLY BOYFRIEND WHOM I AM SITTING NEXT TO HAS TO INTERRUPT AND ASK AGAIN...
