I have been going back and forth about whether or not to post this, but after looking at other reviews, it seems this location has a history of mistreating non-white customers. I feel it is important information to know for future customers.
I came to this location this morning to order a coffee and pastry from the drive-through. After sitting in the drive-through line for about 20 minutes I got to the ordering speaker and noticed a hand-written sign saying the drive-through was closed, but there were cars in line behind me blocking my car from reversing out, and the cars in front of me were ordering and receiving their coffee at the drive-through window, so I figured the barista at the window was finishing the orders of the cars in line before closing the drive-through (there was no sign or cone at the entrance of the drive-through area). When I got to the window, I asked the barista is they had one of their regular bakery items and the barista got visibly frustrated and told me he didnāt know and to come inside to order because they were trying to close the drive-through. I came in and waited another 10 minutes to order, which is fine, but I could see through the drive-through window that the barista was taking the orders of the 4-5 cars behind me, which included grabbing items from the pastry counter. I am non-white and, although I donāt know if it was intentional, I canāt help but feel that my race had a factor in why the drive-through barista felt it was ok to get frustrated with me and tell me to come inside to order, but then continued to take the orders of the 4-5 (white) customers in the cars behind me (I could see them from the drive-through window inside the shop). Again I donāt know if this was intentional, but it is far from the first racial micro aggression I have experienced living in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe vibe is gone!! I used to love this place. I realize that all small business owners are struggling right now. I get it. But, but, but....I went in recently and they have completely rearranged all the merchandise in such a way that makes the whole place seem cluttered and uninviting. I sometimes sit at the counter and one side of the counter is now completely filled with merchandise. It has the effect of cutting off one half of the room from the other. Also, all of the tables to the right as you walk in the door are now tables for SIX! I am loathe to take up a whole table for six just for myself. The other side of the room has smaller tables, but I have always seated myself on the right side because it was cozier. Now there is nothing cozy about any of it. Also I usually get a quiche which comes to BM frozen. A couple of times it was still frozen when they cut out my piece and heated it which meant the crust was a mushy mess and the quiche felt inedible. This has been my go to place for several years, but I am now looking for another place that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood coffee, bad employee or bad employer?! I ordered a Matcha that costs $5.23. I put $1 as tip, then I gave the cashier a $20 bill and said, I have $0.23 cents to make even, can you give me $15? The cashier said āno, she couldn't because she had already processed as receiving $20. The register drawer was open, I explained that the money was the same. She would have more change and I would get rid of the coins. She took out her cell phone to calculate! I said I give you $20.23 to pay $5.23 = $15 is the change. She got offended and left the cash register with drawer open! Another employee came and explained that he couldn't change the money at the register. I said that I worked at the register too, I wasn't trying to be rude and I didn't want to receive more change. So, I gave up and accepted $14.77. (When the boss counts the money at the register, $1 or 10 coins of 0.10 are the same money). But I accepted my change just saying "well, a simple math isn't...
