Cava is one of my favorites restaurants so I was expecting my experience at the new location in Lafayette to be good. I actually tried this Cava on the Friday that it opened and as anticipated the line was very long so I made sure that next time I wanted Cava I would schedule a pickup order. The next time (which was Monday) I scheduled a pickup order for 5:00pm and showed up at 4:45pm(they weren’t busy) to see if my food was ready. It was not ready and I was told by a team member that they typically don’t have food ready before the pickup time because they run out of ingredients. She said that she would see if they could start making my order since I was already there and since they weren’t too busy. I said okay and politely sat down and waited. 5:00 comes still no food. 5:05, then 5:10, then 5:17.. still no food. I didn’t receive my food until 5:20pm. I wouldn’t write a bad review if it was maybe 5 minutes late but 20 minutes is just too long. I’m not sure what the holdup was but this was absolutely ridiculous and I think I deserve a refund for waiting that long on a very simple bowl. I also...
Read moreI had the green and grain build your own bowl, and I had been to several locations of CAVA in the Houston metro before eating here. This location lacks the quality control of the other ones I’ve been to. They always seem to be out of key ingredients when I go, and there’s no sign or transparency as to what they’re out of until you reach the part of the line with missing ingredients. This is frustrating because if you were waiting for a protein or specific ingredient, you realize they’re out after you’ve already partially completed your order, or after waiting for 10+ min in line.
The final straw that had me leave a negative review was that my lentils were completely undercooked and raw. You can see the size difference in the picture. I’m lucky I didn’t break a tooth on these, it’s like eating a raw, dried bean the size of a BB. I used to really like CAVA and have even recommend my friends in town try it after I used to eat there in Houston all the time… but after these disappointing handful of visits I just can’t recommend...
