If you don't like your Mexican dishes with any spicy heat or your idea of spicy is a jalapeno pepper and not a habanero, this is an excellent restaurant, much the same as most of the other Mexican restaurants in Lafayette. What makes me give it 4 stars is the always friendly and courteous staff. THEY are what makes the Teal Ave location stand out and keeps me coming back.
I'm a little worried about the recent trend I've come across at Mexican eateries where, when you order tacos, you have to specify that you want toppings (i.e. lettuce, tomato, onion, et al) if you don't want to get just a tortilla, meat and a sprig of cilantro. This place is no exception.
The food is good, but not putstanding - especially for the price. I ordered steak tacos "supreme" and a steak burrito. It wasn't skirt steak (which used to be a very cheap cut of meat, but has become VERY expensive over the past decade). The burrito was more like eating a Phillly cheesesteak burrito. It was much the same for the three tacos.
Everything is cooked to Midwestern tastes, meaning the meat is bland and not marinaded. You have to add your own spiciness via the green or red salsa provided "on the side."
For the three steak tacos and a steak burrito, I spent a little over...
Read moreHorchata was chalky and left a terrible film in your mouth. Asked to please take it back to try the pina colada. It was equally terrible. I was ready to leave after the poor drinks. My fiancé wanted to stay and try the food because the menu looked very promising. I ordered cheese Enchiladas with green sauce, a ceviche tostadas, and an al pastor taco. I told her my order, my fiancé clarified my order, and the server repeated my order. I got my tostada first, it was good. I was impressed with the flavor, however it was warm. Which was very off putting. The other food arrives some time later, all wrong, they put the al pastor in the enchiladas. I had them take it back, then immediately asked for the check and handed them my card. Now here is the reason for the review. They charged us for everything. I laughed immediately then just signed. I was charged $30 to eat some chips and salsa. bruh. Please, there are much better places to eat around Lafayette, chose...
Read moreFirst time visiting this place. After hearing good things (before covid), I thought let's try it. Well, I got the empanada and rice. The rice was good. The empanada was steak and had queso cheese. Kinda flavorless but still decent. My kids had chicken nuggets and fries. The nuggets were over cooked and the fries had no flavor and looked overdone as well. The mello yello was flat.
However, the dining area was clean. The details on the table and chairs were amazing! Such beautiful artwork.
The women's bathroom was a mess. I had to wipe down the toilet seat because either someone definitely missed or it was water, but wasn't taking the chance. The sink counter was covered in water. Toilet paper all over the floor.
The service was okay. Not what you would get at a more famous restaurant. The lady was nice.
My reasoning for 3 stars? I'm not much for mexican food. Its a decent place, but definitely could use some...
