I somehow never realized Ema's served breakfast until recently, when I searched Google Maps for a place to grab some food in the morning. This place was a hit!
Service was on top of things from the get-go and was very kind and accommodating the entire time my party was there. I quite enjoyed the music being played while I was eating (The Smiths, etc.), the tables were spaced out comfortably for the small section in which we were seated, the food was served promptly and hot, and I loved everything I ordered.
From experience, I can happily recommend the expensive, but delightful, Beignets. They're cut small, so if you like, you can simply pop one into your mouth with little to no chance of exhaling powdered sugar all over your clothes, as with a larger one. They are also served with honey, which reminded me of sopapillas and was delicious. I also ordered the Crab Cakes Benedict with scrambled eggs instead of poached ones. For my sides, I got the Fruit and chose the Breakfast Potatoes instead of Grits. The whole thing was completely satisfying - we left the restaurant happy and full.
What an absolute delight of a dining experience. I honestly can't wait to go back and explore...
Read moreIf you enjoy a dining experience please allow me to recommend Ema's. What a fantastic restaurant. I went to Ema's for breakfast, I had the French Croissant with egg, ham and cheese, I opted for the potatoes and this did not disappoint! Rich and flavorful, and the croissant was so light and fluffy. I also ordered a side of Beignets. They were the absolutely best Beignets that I have had here in Lafayette. So very light and bursting with flavor! My waitress name was Blakely, she was young full of energy and smart as a whip! My service was more than a 5! She knows the menu, knows the restaurant and she knows art! Which brings me to the ambiance of this charming restaurant. The restaurant is painted the bright warm colors that do not overwhelm. The walls are decorated with beautiful art, by Virgi Banks, and they stand out in thier beautiful intriguing bright colors that captivate! And if that isn't enough the soft jazzy music makes the experience complete! Take a moment and look at the medals and...
Read moreWe always enjoy Ema's Café: great food, wonderful people, more than decent atmosphere. We generally go there for breakfast, but I have never gotten food at that place where it wasn't excellent. Also, even when the place is rocking and rolling the way it was this morning, one doesn't feel too crowded. We go there just about every week.
Jeremy Whitman has been managing the place for 20 years now, and he is very careful and observant of everything, while being both good to his people and very friendly to his customers. Sarah and Austin are definitely our favorites, though I have never been disappointed with anyone on the wait staff.
The only thing that I will say is that, if you go there for lunch, and you're in a serious hurry, you may want to order ahead. The cooks are good at getting it out there, and the servers are good at paying attention, but there's only so much you can do when the...
