Tonight I was in Jakes and I was in the bathroom, due to the large crowd and the noise, I found myself unable to breathe correctly and started to have panic attack. I went to the bathroom and went into a stall with a paper bag and tried to get my breathing back to normal. Within a minute of being in the stall with my friend, people started pounding on the door, screaming at us that the manager was outside the stall. I opened to door and tried to explain to the manager that I couldn't breathe and found myself being ripped out of the bathroom by a bouncer. This bouncer pulled me out of the bar and threw me onto the street and left me alone in the snow while I tried to catch my breath. I am giving jakes a 1/5 and calling tomorrow to let them know that their service and their attitude was extremely rude and biased. I would not suggest going to jakes if you want to be treated with respect. This is not the first time a jake's employee has been rude to me, but it has definitely been the rudest I have been treated at this establishment. The only thing this bar cares about is turning a profit, so please do not expect to be treated with respect or kindness...
Read moreOne of the worst restaurant experiences at Purdue. During game day, they were clearly understaffed on such a busy day. It took 30 mins at a time for my friends to get a beer. The meal prices were unreasonable as my burger meal cost the same as my friend's oven sandwich and he got double the food. The upcharge on fries was not worth. If I paid the $1.99 at any fast food restaurant I could have double the amount of fries I received from Jakes. Also I don't know if the price of lettuce and tomato went up but I also get charged for those with my burger. The server was clearly overbooked and it took 30 minutes for my table to get another pitcher of water. There was also two servers in the entire restaurant. Overall, I was disappointed that I made the poor choice of going to Jake's where I could have gotten better service at a street...
Read moreThis place's business has taken a real dive the past couple years. It used to be absolutely packed on weekends and certain week nights, but now even some weekend nights it's a ghost town by midnight. This has caused them to close pretty early the last two times I was there, before 2 AM. I hope Jake's stays open, because I can't figure out why they're losing so many customers. Their food is standard bar fare, about what you'd expect. The pizza is above-average.
Their drink specials are some of the best on campus, and their bartenders tend to pour pretty strong. Also respect to their bartenders for only throwing me out twice in the years I've been going there, I've deserved it more often than that. I have more and better memories here than any other campus bar, and I'll be going again this weekend to help support it. Long...
