I went here for the first time a few days ago, and it was my first day ever in a food bank. I expected the food to be completely disgusting and just barely edible- like just a step above what they feed people in our prisons. But I was delighted to find out the food these guys have is actually awesome! Like not only fresh fruits and veggies, but they also have a few options of microwave meals, and you can even bring home a gallon of milk! Now be warned that most of these items are just about to be at, or exactly on, their expiration date, so keep that in mind so that you know which items need to be consumed first! But anyways I think this place is totally awesome, and if you’re struggling and in need of some way you feed yourself, I definitely recommend this place!

Those aren't chocolate chips!

I went to Sister Carmens today and i am so upset! Sister Carmen employees and volunteers are not following the protocol when it comes to food safety. Such as checking for mold on any of their products well. They have a lot of excuses, but there is no excuse to freezing foods such as Cannolis or any other food product with mold and passing them off as if that's not what that is. I have environmental Asthma and I am so relieved that my kids looked at the frozen cannolis, that I just brought home from this particular organization and told me immediately that what they were about to eat had cannolis that mold on it all over the product. After i'm looking at the cannolis, i'm having a hard time believing that the employees and volunteers did not notice that both containers of frozen cannolis had mold all over it.I'm getting tired of going through this every time I go and what is worse, Is these people who claim to care about feeding their community is actually putting people at risk of getting sick due to their laziness and excuses when it comes to there customers and not following food safety protocols well. This is not all right, and this is a very despicable action that could get a lot of people sick. Sister Carmen is the only place close enough for a lot of people living in Lafayette to go to and we rely on their services and we are trusting in them to not get us sick and that we are bringing home foods that do not have mold and are...

My partner and I have been living out of our car for the past 3 months and it recently got impounded. Sister Carmen has been so kind and helpful to us since the first time we went to them for resources. All of the staff are friendly, well educated, and very respectful. There have been many times where I couldn't afford to buy food of any kind, and everyone at Sister Carmen's was so welcoming and nice that I never felt ashamed asking for help. As soon as I'm on my feet and can help these guys, I definitely will, they have my...
