I had a date night with my son and asked what he wanted for dinner. He said pasta, although Proto’s does not have pasta they do serve a really good pizza pie. Our waitress was friendly and did a great job checking on us. We enjoyed the quiet & relaxing evening on the patio. My son ordered Italian cream soda. There were some awesome add-in flavors to chose from, including lavender which I thought sounded awesome but he went with basic vanilla, which he really enjoyed. Appetizer: Tomato & Mozzarella which was a perfect light appetizer fresh with basil and drizzled with yummy goodness. Main dish: we shared a medium pizza I asked if we could do 1/2 & 1/2 or what she recommended for a pepperoni lover and for me wanting fresh mozzarella & basil she came up with a concoction of the (Margherita D.O.C.G) accommodating our requests. It was good! So good my son asked to take another pizza home, which we did. Dessert: we were stuffed but ordered 2 desserts to take home & share. 1. Tiramisu was good, would have been better If I could have ate it immediately #dangit 2. Ice cream cookie sandwich. Although not made in house my son was happy with his sweet treat. My family will definitely be back.

Won’t Be Back The biggest reason we won’t be back is the 4% “Staff Benefits Charge” that was quietly added on to the bill before sales tax which is 9.055% in Lafayette. Food and drinks amounted to $64.75. We were billed $73.44 which included the $2.59 “Staff Benefits Charge”. If my math is right you’re effectively being charged over 13% tax and part of that is for a product or service you don’t receive. That’s not right. The pizza is a very thin crust which I don’t particularly prefer. Toppings were a little sparse. Salad was good. Beer selection is quite limited. The Chianti my wife had was only $8.00 a glass but the serving portion was somewhat small. Desert was good. Indoor seating is real tight. Ashley, our server / bartender, did a great job which is much appreciated.

First off, when you walk into an establishment, and you see the person who's going to be making your food and she has a scowl on her face, can't simply acknowledge you or fails to smile, I recommend turning around and walking out. And that's what we should have done today. While the person who we ordered our to go pizza with was very nice, the cook wasn't and the pizza she made was horrible! It was burnt in spots, flatter than paper, had very little to no toppings in most spots and was probably the hardest piece of cardboard I've ever been handed. I will be disputing the charge for this "pizza" and I won't step foot in this place again. There are many other places that know how to make a $25 pizza edible.

My Fiancee lives in Boulder, I'm from Cheyenne and were going to go to one of our favorite pizzerias in Boulder Friday evening and upon arrival, we found out they were closed due to an unexpected flooding issue, which serendipitously caused us to discover Proto's Pizza via a Google search. We are both so glad we did! The aroma coming from the restaurant in the parking lot immediately piqued my taste buds, and I was not to be disappointed! Our waitress (I feel badly I can't recall her name) was very sweet and was kind enough to let us sample 2 white wines we were contemplating as she said she didn't want us to be disappointed since we were purchasing a bottle. We both very much appreciated her thoughtful consideration, and she was outstanding the rest of our evening. The Chardonnay we ended up getting was excellent! We ordered the Friday special clam & garlic pizza, and added fresh basil and mushrooms along with a Caesar Salad. The salad was excellent, especially the dressing/quality/freshness of the Romaine & the Peppadew cheese (our only very small complaint was there wasn't quite enough dressing for our tastes, but I'm sure next time we could get a little more on the side). The pizza was fabulous! The sauce is exceptional (as both of us like a little bit of spiciness) and tasted very fresh. The crust was extremely tasty, being very thin, bubbly and a bit charred. We had no idea there is a Proto's in Boulder, Longmont etc. and we are excited to try out all of them. Both of us consider ourselves somewhat "foodies" and amateur pizza connoisseurs and Proto's is our new...

Honestly no cap rlly weird environment first impression judgement vibes for sure as well as there customer experience no communication or comforting I was the only one in here and I was left asking for more drinks at the bar watch out for the lady and guy cooking pizzas they don't know how to engage in business rlly act like kids and would never answer my questions about the pizza or sauces due to my first time here honestly it's disappoints me bc I'm there age and have no respect for peoples questions or realizing I'm there bc I have money to buy a pizza I guess they thought I didn't have money or something but just a horrible place they are so fake it's embarrassing and gives me the creeps I recommend another pizza joint 💯 percent. What the owner says idgaf get better employees your comment doesn't mean anything when I already experienced a bad time. This is my honest review but horrible pizza and people. Don't come here no more bc. First time out of state people get disrespected by these people at the pizza place. Not worth the hype. I recommend yourpie in Thornton Conway...
