7 am for hot chocolate. They had been open since 5:30, with the employees having arrived before then, so there was plenty of time to get this store into shape.. No other customers when I was there.
There was no menu listening for hot chocolate, took the server a very long time to figure out what the price was, finally saying $6 plus for a grande. He didn't ask my name; after 5 minutes, I went back to ask was flippantly told, "It's right there!"
I looked for the condiment station, saw it, dirty, empty, a few stirrers, and noting else. I was horrified with the drink - lukewarm watery skim milk with maybe a teaspoon of chocolate flavor. Removed the lid, drink wasn't even filled to the top, with zero requested whipped cream.
I went back, told the server that the drink was completely unacceptable and that I wanted a very rich, chocolate flavored drink that was filled to the top and had an abundance of whipped cream. He had to consult with the other employee - they didn't know what to do so ended up asking me if I would like it made with mocha. I said I would like it made with chocolate and was told they had no chocolate. I was so frustrated that I just said fine and of course got something with no resemblance to what I had originally ordered. These people obviously hate their job - zero personality or warm customer interaction.
While I was waiting this time, I couldn't help but notice how dirty this store was. Tables were unclean, chairs were askew, there were coffee beans all over the floor in front of the counter, the floor in the space to go behind the counter was filthy, and the display case with dirty glass contained not only very stale looking bread items but a large assortment of crumbs and other odd assorted items such as a layer of dirt filled grime with insects imbedded in it. I have attached a photo as evidence. I also noticed that the shelf in front of the store with all the merchandise was half empty, lids off items, and the container with the retail coffee bags practically empty. The store lighting was dim, and the music so loud I could hardly hear the server.
When this new drink was ready, I asked about the milk and condiment station and neither employee seemed to understand what I was talking about. I pointed to the dirty, empty station and had to then ask that if one orders coffee or wants cinnamon, how does one does that. The answer I received was "Well I guess we can add that." I asked why the station wasn't stocked, and they had no answer - shoulder shrugs. Very professional. I mentioned on my way out that they might want to think about doing some cleaning and got blank stares.
You know, I realize that this is a very minor and insignificant problem I encountered in this store this morning in light of the world crises going on, but at $6 and change, added to the wait time, ineptitude of the employees, and filth of this store, these issues are really appalling and fall way, way below the standards to which the Starbucks corporate marketing consistently implies are of the most the supreme importance.
I've filed an official complaint with corporate regarding the poor service, substandard product, and obvious inept management of this store. I will be also be filing a complaint with Boulder County Health Department tomorrow.
The last time I ordered a hot chocolate from a Starbucks, it was in Boulder, in a gleamingly clean, bright, neat, well-stocked store, and what I received was a rich, thick, real chocolate drink made with real milk and served with lots of whipped cream and to which I was able to add cinnamon from a clean, well stocked variety of condiments station.
There are still many unemployed persons in this city who I know would like a job and could actually turn this store into what a Starbucks is supposed to be.
I wonder when if we will be able to expect a complete turnaround in the sanitary conditions, level of service, and overall appearance of this very sub-standard store. I know we're not Boulder, but we deserve better than this.

Read moreFriendly. Drive thru. In the Walmart parking lot. Blinding Summer Sun. Out of everything. Long long lines.
My review is not based on their products. It is based on service and how this location differs from other locations in the franchise.
7/3/19 Update: Summer sun shines directly on the order screen until late afternoon. The screen is pointless. I've not been able to read it once. They should probably plant a large tree on the passenger side. It also seems like they have a difficult time hearing the order. It could be the 287 traffic. I'm not sure. A tree or 2 would help this also.
The mornings aren't terrible but it seems to slow after 10am.
Order accuracy, for me, is about 70% of the time. Again, I'm a daily to multiple times a day customer. My order is the same every day. So take your time to test a sip before you drive away.
Update 12/29/19
Overall I'm unimpressed with this location. It's a gamble. Every single time I visit this location they're out of something in my order. Today I arrived at 10am and they had already dumped their coffee. I'm not a fan of "coffee houses" that don't actually sell COFFEE. Starbucks is supposed to carry dark roast until 11am. The barista stated "we dumped it already". By now I'm used to visiting two Starbucks each time I choose this location. I feel this needs a review update so you can expect the same. It's been 8 months since my first visit. I can comfortably say at this point that this location is below average for the Starbucks franchise.
I've been inside a few times but generally do the drive thru. It's always chaos. They are either short staffed or short on supplies.
I hope a coffee house that actually sells coffee will open near me soon. In the meantime, I'll be heading to Starbucks...
Read moreThis Starbucks is by the far WORST experience I’ve had so far. The only reason I went to this Starbucks is because the one in Lafayette was closed, everything was going well until we ordered and as we ordered the second drink she asked me if it was hot or iced and I said it was iced. When we got to the window she turned her back on us the entire time and gave us the drink we had repeated twice to her that it was iced and she gave it to us hot we asked her nicely that it was supposed to be iced and they changed it for us and made us wait by the mobile order. The next day I went again and ordered my drinks both iced and she gave me one of them hot once again and I told her it was iced nicely and she whispered to her coworker that I had done this yesterday too and rolled her eyes at me and once again turned her back on me. I’ve never felt so disrespected by someone not only did she not speak to me and turn her back at me she also whispered to her coworker about me and I find that very disrespectful as me being a Starbucks employee as well. Don’t go here go to the one in Lafayette everyone there is so nice and sweet and never fail to...
