The lack of clear information (board games can be removed for use by younger than teen age patrons), the referral to collections for late materials (which is not sent in clear or really any format to avoid fees when the library has become "fee free"), changing (stopping) access to the teen area where gaming consoles are for siblings in the teen area despite having younger age games and some families that either do not have resources or do not want home game systems and despite the fact that there are not other patrons of teen age at the time, the hours for areas for specific age use (maker space is open but barely past the time middle schools let out which may also affect families with younger kids who also have to do pickups), the massive personnel turnover, the lack of programming that considers that we have many different populations (and not just the minority groups most identified), the rules about using the teen book area even when no teens are there, the harsher rules for renewing/allowing checkout when you forget a late item (new employees are much more doctrinaire), changing age for volunteers so that middle school students with public service hour requirements who already have so few opportunities have less in Boulder County ....so many reasons that I no longer feel especially enthusiastic about a library that I moved into a home to be close to (because we are serious readers in our home). The response from administrators is often luke warm and makes it feel very clear that some patrons just don't rate for customer service or being made to feel to be valued (though our taxes support the library, too). That is why a negative review. I am glad other people feel welcome here but many times it just seems like the policies and format of things are adopted with limited consistency and care (which is a big departure from how it felt for the...
Read moreSad to leave a bad review for a library, and it has nothing to do with the staff or facilities. Unfortunately it is frequented by adults who host phone calls and gaming parties with their friends in the quiet reading areas, and cuss you out under their breath when you remind them that this is a quiet area. As a “fix” a staff member offered other places in the library i could sit, but if the only “solution” to other people not respecting the space is to constantly move around so they can be obnoxious I would rather go to any other library. It is fairly disappointing considering this library is so close to my house, but at this point a 20 minute drive and existing in a respectful space...
Read moreThis is a nice library with ample space for all age groups, and because it is sufficiently large that different age groups have their own spaces, the designated areas for reading or studying quietly remain quiet (at other libraries I've been to, a common problem is that noisier children can make it difficult to stay focused while reading, but this is not much of a problem here). There are plenty of desks and also comfortable armchairs which are great for reading or working at. Overall, I like this library a lot, and even though it's farther than other libraries compared to where I live, I prefer to go to...
