I decided to stop in and try this place during the last Mosey of the year. We were sat, and I immediately realized that I had forgotten my ID. When our server returned with waters and asked for my ID, I told her that I had just realized that I left my wallet at home. She was quite short as she said something like, “No ID, can’t serve you” and walking away (as if I had requested otherwise).

I returned an hour or so later with my wallet. When I asked to be seated, the woman asked, “Weren’t you here earlier?” I told her that I had, but I had forgotten my wallet and now had it with me. She replied, “Oh, she (pointing to the server from before) told me you were 18.” We were treated with suspicion and disdain as the employees discussed amongst each other (not subtly) whether they should refuse us service.

Eventually we were seated, our IDs were checked, and we ordered a bottle of wine. The wine was delicious, but the missing wallet fiasco really soured the entire experience. At 29 years old, I would never expect to be accused of trying to buy alcohol underage, especially being that I had been clear and up front from the get-go that I had forgotten my wallet - it’s not as if I had tried to order first, we had just sat down and didn’t even have water at our table yet.

I really wanted to like this place. It was cute and clean, the wine was delicious, but the experience could not have been worse. Instead of a romantic date night, it was an uncomfortable and upsetting experience, and I regret the fact that I spent my money here. In the future, I would suggest not making assumptions or accusations, and instead treat each potential customer the way you would anyone else - with kindness, and the benefit of the doubt. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth, and I would not...

Cellar 422 was the name of their old place, this is now called the The Cellar - Wine Bistro. Run by the same management as the previous establishment. This is my first time ever here.

We made a reservation for Saturday night and tried their Wildflower Sauvignon Blanc and Brie en Croute. I loved the sauvignon blanc and the brie was fabulous (a little small in terms of portion) but everything on the platter was delicious.

They do wines by the glass and by the bottle, and if available, will let you sample the one's by the glass prior to ordering, which was really helpful. They have an extensive wine list, and group the wines per region and whether they're old world or new world. Our server was fantastic and really patient with us, as we took a while deciding on what we wanted!

I really liked their decor and aesthetics. It's a cozy place, tastefully decorated and furnished. Great for a date night or for a group of friends.

Would I go back? Most definitely yes! P.S. they've also started doing brunch every 1st and 3rd Sunday - the menu looks great and reasonably priced. They take reservations.

Finally got to try out their Brunch menu.

I got their eggs benedict which was really delicious (and came with three eggs!). The only thing I felt was a bit off was the raw tomato in there... I think it would have enhanced the flavours if they had roasted it. Salmon was on point.

Their croque madame was fantastic. Definitely recommend this. My friend got their nutella crepe which was a little too sweet. Probably best sharing this with someone.

Mimosa's were yummy and overall, a great experience. I'd definitely go back....

Terrible experience. Main hostess was not very accommodating from the get go. We ordered 2 glasses of wine each for the table of 5, after which the server came to us to clarify whether we had 3 each. When we said no, we did just 2 each, she insisted that she had 3 each down on her machine which was just not true. She said she’d clarify with the main hostess who in the end just backed the server up. Either she made a genuine mistake noting down our orders or she was just plain dishonest, we paid the entire check including the extra 5 glasses that we never ordered or drank. We were told if we don’t agree to pay for the extra glasses of wine they won’t take our business which was unnecessarily aggressive which is when we decided to pay the entire check and get the hell out of there. After a lot of back and forth and after being told “she’d get back to us soon”, no one came back to us - LOL. Probably because the check was already paid for. We were asked to leave our phone number and name in case the “management” decided they made a mistake, which I don’t have a lot of trust in anymore.

I’ve been to this place a few times before and always had a great time, but this single disastrous experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. Been going to restaurants in Lafayette for years and always had a lovely experience. Safe to say, this was my worst Lafayette dining experience so far.

You guys lost a few...

What a great night and local gem of a spot. We went for Wine Wednesday, which features $5 glasses off a list of various wine types. They also have a tasting for $15 which gets you five pours (see attached photo for the 10/16 choices). The two owners were working the room and the bar, and we got to discuss wine for quite a while. Many, many wines ranging from the $5 glass to the $150 bottle. Our favorites were the Ferreira port and the Familia Pacheco syrah. The menu is small, but has a balanced selection of small plates and entrees. There are also two vegan options in the hummus and pita, and the brussel sprouts. A few other vegetarian and gluten free options as well. The hummus was excellent, the the Washington oysters they had were fresh and sweet. The place was full by 7:30 pm, so make sure to go early if you want a seat. A business worthy of local support.

Meet up with friends here regularly and the service is fabulous! We are treated well and the food is incredible. $5 wine by the glass is a fun way to try new wines and we've never been let down by the selections. The atmosphere is loud, just as a note for those with hearing impairments. If that's a concern, seasonal outdoor seating is available.
