Quite possibly the worst "BBQ" I have ever had. To the point that majority of the food was not edible. Im not sure if there is different cooks, management or what but this " mazing food" everyone is raving about on the reviews were not even close to what i experienced. Someone noted "i've never had to throw BBQ away before" and i felt that because I was floored on how bad this truly was. To make matters worse, they were out of Chicken and cornbread almost two hours before closing. On top of that what kind of BBQ place only serves mac and cheese and mashed potatoes 1 day a week -__- So to clarify, we ordered the BBQ Rib platter,( W/ Collards and Black eyed peas) the turkey platter (W/Corn on the cob and french fries), the smothered turkey sandwich and grilled cheese. The Ribs were tough and flavorless, Collard greens weren't even cooked all the way, were bland and they had a crunch like eating lettuce. The black eyed peas were so salty they couldn't be eaten. The Turkey was dry and flavorless. My french fries on two of the meals were so burnt and oily we couldn't eat them, they also had literally no salt on them. just soggy and burnt, absolutely disgusting ( see pictures for reference). The corn on the cob was ok but also had no flavor. Hands down probably the worst BBQ i've ever had. Needless to say we went to bed hungry and disappointed. Should have listen to the reviews from the last few weeks. I absolutely will never eat or recommend this place ever again. AND THATS ON MY MAMA

We arrived at the Marriot next door at about 5PM. The smoke was all around. We already had plans that night and intended on leaving at 7AM the next morning. The hype, menu and the smoke made us leave the next day at 1PM. When you have that much wood to burn and you have to try a place like that. We showed up for lunch with an idea of what to order. That idea didn't go even close to planned. Bobby, the owner or manager followed us to our table. We had menus...don't know why. He picked our meals based on what we told him and then he added in his opinion. (Brunswick Stew). My wife and I share all the time and that's how he had our order set up, and of course with southern sweet tea. Brisket and BBQ chicken. Brisket, pulled pork and BBQ chicken. Collards, sweet potato souffle and Brunswick Stew. Corn Bread Dessert was Chocolate Chest Pie. Love the old school receipt, the wait staff was friendly and very prompt. Bobby was cruising around to all tables many times over and talking about the town and wanted to hear our stories. The food was DELICIOUS and the restaurant was very rustic. Very cool experience and very glad we didn't leave early and enjoyed the southern hospitality. A 2nd visit will absolutely happen when we return.

I will start by saying they have everything they need to make the best BBQ but failed miserably. What brought me in to this facility was the smell, it was amazing. I ordered the barbecue rib platter, my sides were collards and slaw. The reason I ordered the ribs was because on the menu, it states “slow cooked for 14 hrs”. Well, the flavor was there and they had a very nice ring, but unfortunately, I had to use my knife to cut into the meat. Something slow cooked for that long should not need a knife, It should just fall off the bone. The best part of the meal was the collards they were delicious. The slaw was awful, and the three sauces on the table were not good. The reason for 2 stars, instead of 1 ? my server was amazing the taste was there and the collards. Other than that don’t waste your time. Next time I will listen to the locals because they said NO, but the smell was telling me YES.

Oh my goodness! We were supposed to go to Hog Heaven but didn’t for whatever reason! I sincerely think it was God giving us a nudge! This place was fantastic! Kara was our wonderful waitress. Her listening skills are impeccable and her patience is even better! I misunderstood a few things about the menu items (it was my fault as I was tired and hungry). Kara stood there and listened to everything I asked as well as when I got whatever I was saying wrong. She corrected me and made sure I was ordering what I said I really wanted! She was younger than me but I felt like she was an old school mother—a momma duck taking the time to really look out for her ducklings! She was so expedient and we didn’t have to wait long on our food either! They have many sides which I tend to be skeptical about when I see on a menu. I always wonder, “Now out of all of those, how many do they actually make well!” Ugghh not many at most establishments but you won’t find that problem here—at least not with what my group chose. We had black eyed peas, sweet potatoes, and baked beans. The only person that wasn’t a fan was my six year old. He didn’t like the Baked Beans. I tasted the Baled Beans and determined that his palate is still as immature as he is because those baked beans were so good! My oldest two also had the Mud pie although it is not called that on the menu! It’s the first item under desserts I believe. Anyway, they both really enjoyed that. It was served with Kara’s sunny disposition which did not change from beginning to end. She was so pleasant to have as a server. The ribs and brisket that my husband and I had were good. Our only qualm was that it didn’t arrive to our table hot enough. It was probably less than lukewarm however I have to be honest! Although heat does add a certain perfect culmination of tastes to a dish, what I find unforgivable is when the food is hot and tastes like slop! At that point, I would be angry but this food was so good, I couldn’t hold the lack of warmth against them. We were there because we were actually staying at Great Wolfe Lodge! This restaurant was very close and easy to travel to in minutes! Parking was hassle free as well! It was a great experience! We will definitely be back and may even travel the two hours away just because on occasion!...

My husband & I came in with another couple on July 4th while traveling. 1st- waitress brought out wrong drinks 2nd -2 of our party ordered brisket & 5 minutes after ordering waitress came back & told us they were out. 3rd - 2 of the 4 plates brought out were incorrect. Three ordered fried chicken strip plates (simplest meal ever) - one got grilled chicken sandwich, another got grilled strips. Turns out, the wrong table was delivered to ours we later discovered. 4th - one found black human hair in his ranch sauce. Overlooked, but then found another under his chicken on his plate. 5th - noticed we were given the wrong ticket when we got to the register 6th- only because of the ticket & having to talk to the cashier about our order, I then mentioned the hair(s). She immediately said the hair in the chicken would have been from corn (which we did not have) & would not have been human but the one in the ranch may have been human, then turned away and addressed another waitress about seating other guests & did not speak to me the remainder of the transaction.

I understand things happen and had not planned to say anything until the cashier had to ask cause our ticket was mixed up. I could have overlooked until her total indifference and even her need to explain the hair being a corn silk (which I am a cook so I am well aware of what a corn silk looks like). I was very quiet when I mentioned this to the cashier so as not to draw attention & be respectful. We even tipped still, as we know this is a servers livelihood. Didn't expect a free meal, but would have appreciated...
