Had to write a review in response to Sam A. I worked here for a year and while I understand where he is coming from in regards to focus on togo orders, I draw the line when he says the food isn’t fantastic. Those are fighting words in my eyes since I know how much care goes into providing high quality fish by the sushi chefs. I am to blame for the poor service since I quit recently and it’s not the easiest role to replace quickly.
The people focusing on to go’s wouldn’t have been able to serve him anyways since they aren’t servers so he shouldn’t take that personally. I’m confident service will be great again soon, I would have offered to fill in on occasion but I don’t think the owners cared for me much either way or even noticed I left lol.
The Hye, Salmon Truffle, Negi-toro, double t, sea bream, golden eye snapper, otoro, ytj and tuna explosion will have me coming back forever. I’ve only been gone a week and I am craving it already. The food is wonderful so if you’re in the area please stop by! You won’t be disappointed if you order anything I listed above or that your server recommends. If you’re from out of state you are in for a real treat I guarantee it. My favorite part of the job was blowing the minds...
Read moreone of the most impressive, butteriest sushi spots I ever had the pleasure of visiting is Seabutter Sushi in Laguna Beach. The service was a little slow, but the sushi made up for it both in quality and in flavor. The only thing I didn’t care for was the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, there was just too much mayo. Now the best bite of the night was the Kampachi in Yuzu, the fish was delicate with some yuzu bringing out the extra bright flavor, and we ended up ordering another round of it, unbelievable. A classic sashimi combo I’ve seen being served is this albacore with crispy onion, Seabutter did a great job on this too. The otoro nigiri just melted in your mouth, could’ve bankrupted myself on these easily. The wagyu nigiri had a dragon-like presentation, and the Seabutter Handroll is pretty self explanatory in its madness of ingredients: uni, toro, and ikura. The negitoro handroll was buttery, and my favorite...
Read moreThis Seabutter is located on the 3rd floor above Gina's Pizza and Oak on the main drag in Laguna Beach. The sushi was great and packaged with care. What stood out was the freshness and buttery soft texture of the fish indicating a high quality. Upon picking up the order the cashier was super nice and the inside was very sleek, clean, and modern but still comfortable and beach friendly. The food is nicely boxed so if you want to eat on the go or run just across the street to the beach it travels quite well or if you happen to be walking to your hotel. For the location right on Coast Hwy in the heart of Laguna price seem super reasonable as most spots here are quite pricey. Overall excellent food and service at a favorable value.. combine that with an incredible location with tons of stuff to do and the beach this is a great spot to hit dining in...
