My dining experience at Wood Ranch in Dana Point, CA, was nothing short of phenomenal. Having previously enjoyed the food at their Irvine location, my expectations were high, and I'm delighted to report that WR Kitchen Dana Point met and exceeded those expectations. With a mouthwatering menu, impeccable service, and the added bonus of no wait time, it was a 5-star experience all around.
We were thrilled to discover that the menu at the Dana Point location was the same as the one we love at the Irvine location. Eager to dive into the delicious offerings, we ordered the barbacoa street tacos, hot wings, and Shishido peppers. Each dish was prepared to perfection, with a beautiful balance of flavors that left us craving more.
One thing to note about the barbacoa street tacos is that they pack a spicy punch. They were even spicier than the hot wings, which may be something to consider if you're not able to handle much heat. My girlfriend had a bit of a hard time with the tacos, but as someone who loves spice, I thoroughly enjoyed them. The hot wings had just the right amount of heat to satisfy our taste buds, while the Shishido peppers were a delightful surprise - a unique and tasty appetizer that we will undoubtedly order again on future visits. To complement our meal, we enjoyed a refreshing margarita and a smooth glass of red wine, both of which were expertly crafted.
What truly set our experience at Wood Ranch Kitchen in Dana Point apart was the stellar service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and efficient, ensuring that our dining experience was seamless from start to finish. It was a refreshing change of pace from the often crowded and bustling Irvine location, which had an hour and a half wait on the same evening.
In summary, our visit to Wood Ranch's Dana Point restaurant was an exceptional dining experience that we won't soon forget. With a delicious menu reminiscent of the Irvine location, outstanding service, and the added bonus of no wait time, we couldn't have asked for a better night out. Just be mindful of the spice level in the barbacoa street tacos if you're sensitive to heat. We will undoubtedly return to Wood Ranch and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a top-notch dining experience in the area. Five stars,...
Read moreWell, I don’t know why the previous poster put “no masks” because the sign in front of the hostess stand says “No Mask”. We had on our masks and the manager took full protocol to sanitize the table we wanted, and the bench. We waited a few more seconds for it to dry but I know it was sanitized from the guy who refuses to mask up. It’s very nice indoor and outdoor seating; spacious and distancing but it’ll probably crowd up when later when we get out of this mess. The service is very good. The waitresses are very accommodating and experienced; personable. The manager handled our order but others would float by to make sure we were happy. Great menu. Enough delish choices and sides. We had tacos. My boyfriend had the brisket and I had the Cauliflower. They were dressed delish but again, I don’t like this cheaper version of a taco shell that tastes processed or is hard. I’m telling you that someone is going to get a piece of that dry hard shell in their throat, so please, real corn tortillas. There are lots of indications of gluten free on their menu. For those of you who don’t understand gluten free, it’s gotta be wheat flourless, so other type of flours are okay. However they don’t have one package of GF burger buns and the tortillas are fake so somebody sit down with a GM from California please and change that. Other issue; be ready for this one because it’ll leave you scratching your head; NO COFFEE! They don’t serve coffee. How do you dine without coffee! They have desserts that should be paired with coffee but they don’t have coffee. Again, GM needs some adjustment to the California menu We are coffee drinkers. I noticed the couple with the two little kids next to us were having tacos too, but WF didn’t hesitate serving them alcohol. I know the bar markup is good but so it coffee. And your site says you serve coffee so now you need to have that removed. Something your GM should know is that your site is in a heavily over 60 affluent neighborhood who like to visit restaurants and tip well, buy markup, but they expect coffee. Otherwise very satisfied, but think I’ll try you out again in about 6 months or keep checking on Yelp to see if you...
Read moreUnfortunately this have to give 2 stars for this visit. Service was good and the waitress was polite and attentive. Food came out pretty quick once we ordered. Upon eating my first taco I felt something stringy. When I looked at the taco there was a long hair hanging from the rest of the taco. I immediately informed the waitress and she took my plate, apologized and had them make me a new one right away. She was very nice and apologetic. I understand things happen sometimes and while it is not pleasant to have a long hair in you food and feel it your mouth when eating, it's how the manager handled the situation. Once we were done the waitress said she needed to get the manager to take off my meal. Once we got the check we noticed that there were 3 orders of taco's on the bill(my wife got the same thing as well). When we called over the manager she said it's because she had to put another order in to have the kitchen make it and took off one so it came out to 2 orders. I was confused as the waitress said they were taking it off the bill. She began to tell me she only took off the 3rd one and was not comping me anything. I don't really care that they didn't take anything off but, was confused with what the waitress had said. The manager then said I can take off your meal if that will make you feel better and said she did not want me to have a bad experience. She should have thought about that before ringing me up for 3 taking off 1 so it looked like they were making hair in the taco right. I will just drive further to go to the real wood...
