A sub-par and mediocre experience here at Muse Sushi House. You would think that after losing their restaurant in San Clemente, they would up their game and provide some solid customer service, but unfortunately I am sad to report that their service is bad and overall pushy.
Let's start with the good. The ambiance was pretty decent. The furnishing and the large open windows serve to provide a lot of natural light and a generally inviting atmosphere. The restaurant seemed to be clean and well-kept, but I think it's in an affluent area of South OC, so that's to be expected.
In regards to their food, the sushi and rolls are actually pretty decent. Seemingly fresh and without that overly fishy taste that you can sometimes get from these types of Japanese sushi restaurants. The sushi rice is on point and the serving sizes were pretty generous. And while the pricing wasn't anything special or necessarily a good deal, the value for the food was okay. I could recommend this place for a quick pick-up order in the future.
This goes all to say, that the restaurant experience would actually warrant a decent ranking, had it not been for a terrible waitress. I mean GOOD LORD, was she pushy. Just talking over you and not letting you ask questions about their menu. Like alot of other sushi restaurants, this place has got a big "SPECIAL ROLLS" menu that is basically a hodge-podge mix of ingredients in various rolls and all called made-up names like "LAST NIGHT IN LAGUNA NIGUEL ROLL" etc.
I'm not here to complain about the confusion this type of menu causes, because it happens everywhere. What doesn't happen everywhere is when you get attitude from a waitress taking your order. I get that she wants to be efficient, but rolling your eyes and sighing heavily when someone wants to ask a question about the menu is just bad manners and frankly an embarrassing action by a service employee. And then to start rushing people makes the overall dining experience hurried and not pleasant at all.
Aside from the rude waitress, this restaurant does seem to nickel and dime you, at every chance they can. They'll charge you extra for anything you ask. Want wasabi or ginger? That'll be $2.00 each. Umm... you're a sushi restaurant? I was at the point where I would not have been surprised had they charged us to request extra napkins or a water refill.
OVERALL: If you're desperate for decent but pricey sushi, come by here to pick-up ONLY. Do NOT...

Read moreThere were no words to explain how excited to see that the same Muse that is in San Clemente opened in a larger, and much more easily accessible location in Laguna Niguel! The restaurant is absolutely stunning and far more modern and spacious than the SC location. Parking is far easier than attempting downtown San Clemente at dinner time.
There is no better fish than what Muse has to offer. It is always so fresh, so pure tasting! I have Crohn’s disease which comes with a lot of dietary restrictions and they are able to accommodate them. They are very gracious to alter what you’re interested in so you can enjoy it without allergy. Including no sauce, no rice, no tempura accommodations. Additionally, they offer alternative wraps such as soy paper and a skinny roll wrapped in cucumber, sans rice.
We did take-out tonight, but they have a very Covid-friendly atmosphere! Everyone is in masks, you see the food being prepared with caution and there is a sign at the door that states masks are required upon entry, as is social distancing. They also had a hand sanitizer station upon entry. Additionally, they’ve set up outdoor seating with heaters and gorgeous planters to enjoy.
The service is next level with kindness. We are looking forward to being frequent customers. We couldn’t be more thrilled about Muse in...
