Del Taco — Restaurant in Lake Forest

Will never return to this Del taco again. My co workers and I have 30 minutes for our lunch and this is the nearest Del taco around. So we thought we would call in our order's so our food is ready when We arrive and we could just pick it and leave. Mind you it was an order for 5 people kinda why we thought to call instead of just normally going through the drive through and yes it was all payed for on one card to make it simple. Called them up placed our orders though I kinda should of knew something was up when I had to ask her if she wanted my name for the order (oh yea right she said) SMH... Yes I do know it's fast food but it took them at least 8 mins to finish the order Anyways I Arrive at the Del taco ask if the order I placed over the phone was ready.( Oh no we didn't want the food to get cold we'll just make it now...) Understandable... but why would anyone call in a order so they can start making as soon you arrive.... If That's what we wanted we would of ordered the food like normal it was really frustrating but what the heck that's fine everyone makes mistakes it's cool... 8 mins later the food is ready. Just out of curiosity I ask the guy at the counter so what will it take for someone to actually have their order made when they call in and if you're not going to start the order when I place it couldn't''t you notify me that the order wont be started upon arrival? and at this point the the staff is just glaring at my co worker and I as if we did something wrong. Never got an Answer but that's partially do to my co worker saying forget it we have to go we've already wasted enough time here ( still on lunch) so we rushed out the door and as we're leaving the guy shouts (you should have gone to the drive through... Co workers shout's back.(that's why we called in our order!) Get back to work everyone now has 10 mins to eat the food before lunch is over . Open the bag we're missing a fry 2 chicken tacos and a bean and cheese burrito Oh and it was cold. Gave up my food so someone else could eat since i placed the order though it was not my fault since everything i ordered was on the receipt just not in the bag...

I normally don't write reviews because my writing is horrible lol.. But this experience was really frustrating and the staff was just rude. Will still eat at Del taco just not at this location such a huge disappointment. Oh and this was Del tacos morning shift around 9Am just an FYI since I Have seen more post complaining about this particular...

Nacho Cheese Fries is crinkle-cut fries topped with nacho cheese sauce and sliced pickled jalapenos. It’s definitely a comfort food menu item for me. When my day isn’t going well or I have a cold, this is my go-to menu item. The crispy and perfectly salted fries with their crinkles help the nacho sauce cling. The jalapenos add a kick of spiciness here and there when you need it. This is not on the menu at every location, but you can still order it. Just make sure you say “Nacho Cheese Fries” when in the drive-thru. If you say “Nacho Fries”, they sometimes hear it as “Macho Fries” and you will end up with a large fries. Rating: 5/5

Shredded Beef Combo Burrito needs a comeback. I loved the tender shredded beef, cheese, and refried beans together in a burrito. I usually add a packet of each hot sauce (Mild, Del Scorcho, and Del Inferno) to my burritos for the ultimate flavor experience. Each sauce has its own flavor profile, but combined are the perfect sauce. They should call it “Del Ultimo”! Rating: 5/5

Carnitas Fries also needs a comeback. The tender pork carnitas make the ultimate topping along with sour cream, diced onions, cilantro, and nacho cheese sauce. It’s a meal in itself. I miss it! Please bring it back! Rating: 5/5

Asada Taco with Steak is juicy carne asada topped with tangy guacamole, hand-made pico de gallo salsa, wrapped in two warm corn tortillas, and served with a fresh cut lime wedge. This is currently on the menu and served street taco style in a foil wrapper. It has a good portion of carne asada inside. Although, the guacamole and pico de gallo do make a colorful presentation, it’s just very messy to eat. I think just leaving it with onions and cilantro would be best. Rating: 3/5

Small Taco Salad was on their Throwback Menu. For the price, it was a pretty decent size of lettuce topped with seasoned ground beef, shredded cheese, sour cream, diced tomatoes, and five tortilla chips. It was a refreshing side salad of sort. It definitely tasted like a taco salad. Rating: 4/5

The Bun Taco was also on their Throwback Menu. It was a good attempt at making the Bun Taco, but the only location that makes it perfectly is in Barstow off Lenwood Avenue. I don’t know how they make it differently, but at the Barstow location, it just tastes like I remember it back in the 1970s. They even wrap it in the yellow wrapper that I remember. 07/04-2022: We are from out of town. Around 5:30 PM, we used the drive-in and ordered a few food-items. One of them was Reg. Chips and Queso. Later, when we opened the bags, the Chips was missing. I called the store and spoke with the manager. He had a heavy accent so I could not understand him fully. He said he would give a credit for the missing item. I informed him I can give him the credit card number. But he said he has to see. Not sure what he wanted to see. When I tried to talk to him further, he just hung up.

My guess is that Del Taco payment system does not allow to give credit digitally. That should change to allow credits over the phone when the purchase transaction, such as Order#, Purchase Price, etc. is confirmed.

The quality of the food is so-so, nothing to write home about.
