Mori Sushi got me all confused after the first bite. It was about 9p.m. when we arrived, and I was surprised it wasn't jam packed in here. Nestled in the Cedar Ridge plaza on Algonquin Rd. with plenty of parking, come check this place out for some authentic sushi rolls and Nigiri. We tried these rolls as pictured: Rainbow, Nigiri, Kamikaze, and Ceviche. None of these rolls were spicy to me and each was absolutely delicious. I finished things off with the fresh cucumber salad and enjoyed it very much. The Kamikaze roll was my first bite, spicy tuna and sweet sauce, but it wasn't spicy at all. The ceviche roll tasted like a fun ceviche would, with the cilantro and avocado. Everything was fresh and flavorful, but slightly warm temp for my liking. I definitely recommend this place if you're in the area. Anything with the crabmeat is not gluten free, and they do have Tamari sauce. You'll probably be asking for More. I had two rolls, salad, and my husband had the Nigiri and Rainbow roll. The total was under $100 for us both and worth it. Edit: came back again for the Crazy & Sexy rolls. The Crazy roll had tuna, salmon, avocado and some chili oil in a delicate packet of goodness. I was impressed with the sexy rolls in cucumber, what a refreshing treat! The tuna, salmon, avocado, and radish were rolled in cucumber slices and marinated in a tangy/savory black pepper vinaigrette. I'll definitely come back for these rolls!

Update: try the octo roll! It is soooooo good. Second time was even better than the first. The quality of fish here is outstanding. The salmon melts in your mouth, the octopus was firm, not stringy, and not fishy. The eel was phenomenal; it was a good balance of taste and again, no fishy flavor. The rolls were well made and very pretty. The kamikaze roll is very good. The staff are outstanding and very attentive. The sushi chef even came over to see how things were. The hot tea was alright, but for a dollar, it's not bad. The atmosphere is cozy and potentially romantic; the music was interesting. There is wine and sake available. The prices here are worth the quality of fish, but are a little higher than some other places. Not a bad place to go to if you're looking to change it up.

We were a bit skeptical due to the location but dont let the location fool you. The sushi rolls we had were very flavorful. Looking forward to visiting again to taste the other rolls. Waitress was very helpful is our decision making being our first visit. We were going to order the Ocean Drive and Pink Flower and she recommend we pick one since the 2 taste very similar. There is a sauce that is used to have that flavorful pop in your mouth. I'm hoping this is not used in all the other rolls.

The vegan sushi options taste good but the service is terrible. Every time I order here they quote me 45 to 1 hour to prepare my food (usually 8 vegetarian rolls). Many times I come after the alotted time and my order is still not ready. Today I ordered online because every time I called the restaurant they would not pick up the phone. After ordering online the email says it will be ready in 35 minutes. I walk in 3 minutes earlier and the lady upfront asks my name, i tell her and she looks down at the receipt saying "oh we just got your order" I said I ordered at 4:50 and got the confirmation email saying it will be ready at 5:26. She said we'll we still need 15 minutes. I said oh ok the email said 30 minutes. She said ok if you don't want to wait I will cancel your order. I said no I'll go wait outside but I don't know why the email would say 30 mins if it's 45. She said it's not from us, its AI generated. So I leave outside and decide to go home since I'm 2 minutes away. My husband drives back 20 minutes later and the lady who called her self the owner, says oh I didn't accept your order in time so it got cancelled. I only made 3 of your rolls, you can have them for free. WHAT???? Why didnt she call me to notify me that my order was cancelled? She tried telling my husband it was all out of her hands. The customer service is TERRIBLE. she was not in anyway remorseful for their error nor did she contact me to tell me the issue even tho my order had my phone number listed. We will never come back to this horrible establishment ever again. I've been going here for the past 3 years ans you lost a customer. I will be sure to tell all of my friends of your incompetence and lack of respect for your customers.

Update to respond to your terrible reply....still no explanation as to why you physically told me you got my order and started it but didn't accept it in the system ans it got cancelled. Hire more staff. You clearly need more help and canr handle running your...

Being one of a few Asian living in the McHenry county for over 1 decade, we have always made the trip to Chicago, or at lease Schaumburg, Arlington Heights areas for all Asian cuisine as the local ones are very Americanized in a bad way. We intended to go to the Taco El Norte for Mexican one Friday night and discovered Mori instead. After the 1st meal, I was totally sold. I even told the hostess what are you doing here in Lake in the Hill? You should have been in Chi downtown to be recognized!! Well, lucky us!

The sushi rice is sticky enough to hold its shape without falling apart, but not too sticky to change its texture. The amount of vinegar and the rise is done just right.

The rice to ingredient ratio is perfect in every roll that you never feel like you are eating just rice.

The presentation is superb. Every roll is unique and feel like they are prepared with attention to the tiniest details.

The vegetarian options are plenty and tasteful. Which is important with a vegetarian wife. We even had our Valentine's dinner just yesterday with only vegetarian rolls. And they are so good even for a meat eater...

Unlike most of the sushi joints that use couple of sauces and just rolled up differently, each roll has it's unique flavors, texture make ups, and presentation at Mori . We have tried 7 rolls in 2 visits.

In short, we can NOT believe the best sushi joint we have found in metro Chicago land is right here locally considering the amount of trouble we have endured to find good ones around town. And I hope more people would appreciate it to...
