Hop & Cork has a solid beer selection and decent atmosphere, but the food can be hit-or-miss—and unfortunately, our recent visit leaned more toward the miss.
We came in for the Friday end-of-month special: a rack of ribs. Sadly, they were completely inedible—tough, dry, and lacking any real flavor. Fortunately, we also ordered the brisket sandwich, which we’ve had before. It was good, just like past visits, but not something I’d go out of my way to get. The food overall feels more like filler than a feature.
That said, the beer selection is excellent. They have a great variety of taps and keep the list interesting, so if you’re into craft beer, it’s definitely worth stopping by for a pint or two. Pair that with a snack or something safer on the menu, and you’ll probably have a decent time.
The atmosphere sits somewhere in the middle. It has a fun energy, but it’s really loud and echoey, which makes conversation a challenge unless you’re ready to raise your voice. Not the best spot for a relaxed chat or date night.
One plus—when we let the server know about the ribs, they were taken off the bill without hesitation, so props for solid customer service.
Overall: Great for beer, decent for a casual bite, but the food doesn’t hold up enough to make this a go-to...
Read moreAs usual, the food was delicious, and I love that I can almost always grab an outdoor picnic table on a nice September Saturday evening so that I can bring my dog along with me.
But while we got our food and drinks quickly, which is always much appreciated, when it came time to leave, our server was MIA and only reappeared right before we were about to send out a search party.
I’m sure it probably just got busy inside the restaurant. But keep that in mind if you’re ever here on a busy night and in a hurry, and go ahead and ask for your check in advance at the same time that you get your food. ;)
All in all, HnC is still one of our more favorite secret spots to pop into whenever we’re craving a quick bite and wanting to try a new cold...
Read moreI was having some work done on my car up the street at Les Schwab and decided to head over here for a drink while I waited. Better than the popcorn and coffee available at the shop. It was about 3pm in the afternoon on a Saturday and it was very quiet with a few people sitting outside as the weather was good. Inside I sat at the mostly empty bar and was helped out quickly by the bar tender. They have a lot of beers on tap and are more than happy to pour you a taste before committing. The food menu looked good so I will check it out next time and order some. Nice place to chill and hang for a beer or two... and food is likely good too from what I saw coming out of the kitchen for those who...
