Lola's Cafe Bar — Restaurant in Lake Oswego

Service was disappointing. The server came right away and I was familiar with the menu so I was ready and gave her my order. My companions needed more time to look at the menu so they asked if they could have more time. The server left and promised to return in a few minutes. The next thing I knew, someone else placed a plate in front of me. We said we didn’t think it was ours as we hadn’t finished ordering and she took it away. After several more minutes, I asked someone if they could please ask our server to return. She did. I placed my order again and so did my companions. She walked away and immediately came back with my order, obviously the plate they had taken away several minutes ago. So it was cold and I was supposed to eat alone? I just couldn’t believe she turned in my order before getting the orders for the whole table. My companions got their meal about 20 minutes later. It was awkward and unpleasant because I waited so we could eat together. We also asked for more napkins twice and then eventually got up and found some on our own. Plus one of the entrees was wrong. He asked for a cheeseburger and got a chicken burger. We did not let her know because at that point we had already waited a long time and we needed to eat. I really wanted to like Lola Café Bar because the food was actually quite good (except side salad being so wilted) but the service from our waitress completely ruined the experience for my friend and me. She never introduced herself, barely checked on us, and had an attitude from the moment we politely asked to change an iced coffee to hot and switch falafel balls to chicken—changes we made just a few minutes after placing the order.

Throughout the meal, she ignored us, and when we were ready to leave, we waited over 40 minutes just to get a box and our check. She was focused on a larger party that arrived after we were nearly done and made it clear she couldn’t care less about us. At one point, we were even given a cup with a visible lipstick stain on it—completely unacceptable.

Eventually, I had to flag down a different server—a male waiter—who was actually kind, asked us how our day was going, and finally brought us the box and check. He made a genuine effort to help, which we appreciated, but by then the damage had been done.

As someone who’s worked in the service industry, it takes a lot for me not to leave a tip, but in this case, I couldn’t justify it. A tip is earned, not owed. Sadly, we won’t be...

My girlfriends and I came here the morning after a night on the town, hoping to get a cute bite to eat. When asking to be seated the hostess explained that the wait would be 45 minutes. We agreed that we were okay with that and to add us to the list. We went back out to our car expecting a text. Over an hour passes by and we had received nothing. When we came back inside the restaurant asking if we’d be seated soon the hostess rudely said she only holds tables for 10 minutes. We showed her we didn’t receive any sort of message and she continued to talk down to us and say “i guess i could just add you back on the list. but it’ll be another wait.” I understand if she wrote our number down wrong but the way the hostess handled the situation was rude. Thankfully a server came up to try to help us. The hostess has put us down under a slightly different name and for 30 people not 3.
