Unfortunately, I walked in this morning to purchase donuts for my unvaccinated children, one of which is medically compromised, because this shop has previously been recommended to be following health dept guidelines. Despite the sign posted that says masks required, neither the person behind the counter nor the patron she was helping was wearing a mask. When I inquired, I was told that the worker was completely vaccinated, so no one cares. I responded that I cared, because my son is susceptible to a hospital visit if he catches the covid fever, and just got the cold shoulder. Not even an apology.
A friend inquired with the owners later, and was told that the employee "forgot" to wear her mask "up front", which is ironic considering the reply the employee gave me was so dismissive and entitled. The owner also confirmed that the baker does not wear a mask while preparing food. No one cares at Lake Stevens Donuts, and that's why we won't be returning. Whether the employee was vaccinated or not, anyone can SAY they are without proof. The proof, and my trust, is placed in those little scraps of cloth that we all wear to protect each other. What really sucks is that I trusted them with a fairly large order not too long ago... for children (not mine, friends). Under 12. Crossing my fingers no one gets...
Read moreGreat find while on vacation from TN. We have had many many donuts and are kind of âfood snobsâ and I can honestly say the texture and dough flavor are the best I have had. They are as good on day 2 as day theyâll were on day 1 and that never happens. To those who say there isnât a large variety. No, your right there isnât the crazy multilayered flavors like you sometimes see, however-because the doughnut itself is so flavorful and moist they donât need to cover it up with a ton of toppings. There are still plenty of varieties to choose from. Just because they only have 1 donut of each flavor in the case for you to look at instead of trays of each flavor doesnât meant there isnât variety. I am pretty sure their fillings arenât from scratch but they are not the typical restaurant supply store fillings that you see most of the time. They are delightful. I think we tried most all of them and the only ones that I can say I didnât care for were the lemon and strawberry jelly filled. Those fillings did taste a bit artificial ( most people probably wouldnât notice). The rest were very very good. Even the simple raised twist donuts and plain cake donuts were good and I usually would never get those. The service was friendly and we will be sure to visit again the next time we...
   Read more10/10 donuts.
Lots of other donut places seem to believe that it's the toppings and sugars that make a donut delicious. This is far from the truth. Truth is, the dough and texture make up a HUGE portion of a donuts value. Right away, I can tell lake Stevens donuts uses the freshest doughs from quality flour, and fried perfectly. The sugars, glazes, and toppings are also top quality - not that bottom shelf frosting or sugars you find on a $5 birthday cake, that leave you cringing from the artificial sweetness. Nope - lake Stevens donuts are the perfect blend of sweet, and chocolate, creamy, etc - an absolute mouth party of wonderful flavors.
And the donut holes are to DIE...
