I've been coming to this place since they were at the corner of 63rd and Cicero. True, sometimes things aren't perfect, but keep in mind you aren't buying food from a corporatly homogenized, mathematically assembled package, you're buying food from an actual restaurant, with human cooks who make things from scratch. There's an old saying that the cook is only as good as their ingredients, and it seems the owners know this because they actually ask me if my meal is good whenever I'm eating there. It seems their core customers choose take-out or delivery, but they must be doing something right to be in business over 25 years and have the customers stick by them even after they relocated to their current address. Now, I would appreciate a nicer dining area with better seating, better climate control and access to a bathroom. (Maybe, even a soft drink dispenser with free refills.)...
Read moreI gave a detailed 5 star review on this place months ago and Google silently removed it and provided me no notice at all, despite my review not violating any of their TOS. Great job, Google! “ Don’t be evil,” right?
King’s is tasty and cheap. The front desk lady is always kind and polite. The food is almost always good but yes; they do have the odd bad day and other reviews reflect that. I’ve been here at least 2 dozen times and only once was I dissatisfied with the quality of the food (General Tso (?) chicken was breaded A LOT and kind of soggy as a result.)
I would recommend King’s to anyone looking for that type of Chinese food that you see detectives eating at 9pm on cop drama shows and movies. Good stuff,...
Read moreI normally used to come to this place for decent Chinese food on my way home from work about a year ago. Nothing spectacular but atleast 3 1/2 stars I would have rated it back then. Boy have they fallen from grace! Its obvious they have either a new cook or owner now as the food was the absolute worse that I have EVER eaten. I literally threw it all away. The fried rice was under cooked and had no flavor, orange chicken tasted like orange flavored vomit, and the vegetables tasted rotten. Ive literally had better Chinese food from the ready made frozen food that you can get from a local grocery store. What happened to this place? Used to be a hidden gem, now it just needs to be forgotten about forever! ...
