This was aweekend stay-cation for me and I have ZERO complaints! The room was very clean. I had a king size room. The bed was comfortable not too firm or soft, the pillows were a bit too soft but there were enough to give me support. The room boasted and delivered FULL amenities which were awesome! For example, I needed to use my laptop to work and the work chair seat ACTUALLY adjusts up and down. So many hotels have stationary desk chairs and they are too low for the workdesk. The workdesk was spacious and had a desk lamp that you can easily move around the desk to add direct light on your laptop if you need it. There was also an in room safe which is another feature that a lot of hotels don't have especially the hotels nearby. Having an in room safe was perfect because I didn't have to lug my laptop everywhere. Additionally, the room had a chaise lounger with a small portable stand for your lap top or dinner which was perfect because it allowed flexibility in how/where you do your work and eat in the room. Too often in other hotel rooms, I would eat in the bed which I don't like to do, or eat at a workdesk while straining to watch TV. By the way, the TV was a very large 44inch and you can swivel it to reduce strain when not sitting directly in front of it. Their entertainment service had streaming services such as Netflix etc. but only had one premium movie cable channel (Showtime). It would be nice to have an additional movie channel like HBO or Starz but I was very happy with the available streaming services. I also appreciate that I was able to adjust the room temperature and the room was fairly soundproof. The bathroom was a decent size, clean and attractive. Plenty of towels. The room also has BOTH a working medium sized microwave and refrigerator that actually keeps food and drinks cold!🙂 Also there were the standard amenities like iron/ ironing board, clock etc.
The hotel has workout room and an indoor pool which I didn't use but I noticed plenty of kids enjoying themselves🙂. The pool looked like fun but I wish there was a hot tub.
There's a Sports bar n grill, Coaches. I didn't eat at Coaches because honestly there's plenty to eat in the immediate area but it's nice to have a bar and grill in the hotel.
Also this hotel is in the Midway Airport Hotel complex which means there are at least 7 other hotels and there's an airport shuttle that runs frequently to pick up/drop off.
The only thing I think is a little problematic is parking. The parking is so limited for a hotel of this size. If you leave out at 8pm you might not have a space at the hotel when you return around 11pm. The friendly young lady at the front desk (sorry I didn't get her name) directed me to a few designated available spaces that are across from the hotel. If you find yourself without a spot on the hotel grounds, ask the front desk to point you in the designated overflow area so that you don't get towed. Also the parking is free for guests!!!! Yay!!!
Overall, I got a wonderfully quiet, relaxed stay-cation at the Doubletree by Hilton Chicago Midway which allowed me to get some...

Read moreTrying to save money while staying in Chicago (not downtown) we settled on the Midway Double Tree, and it was actually a pretty great stay. Pet friendly (though I have a service dog), the rooms were the cleanest and most modern of the 7 hotels we stayed at on this road trip, and notably with some great art for a hotel of this calibre. The staff were the friendliest and most memorable though ~ kudos to Alex, who shut down the noise happening in the suite above me and made sure our stay was exemplary. Then there's Coaches, which I was wondering what all the hype was about from the reviews and it lived up to all of them. Let's be clear, the restaurant isn't Michelin or anything but when I didn't want to go into the city they had a few vegan items that did the trick, including a Black Bean Burger, which I had with grilled asparagus, a lovely tomato soup, and a few items you can modify like Shisito Peppers, Nachos, or Beet Salad and Diana, our waitress, was so nice. Travelling with my elderly mom, the bar was an oasis after long days sightseeing and I met so many other interesting characters while having some drinks, it was actually pretty fun. Ana, Ramiro and Maiyra (sorry of I butchered any spelling!) were all very attentive and kind,...
