I couldn’t have been more disappointed in our impromptu stay at Hilton Garden Chicago Midway. My family of four missed a connection flight, and being a Hilton Honors member, I located the closest Hilton hotel with an airport shuttle available. The shuttle service went fine, and I’d award it some stars if all other aspects ran as business as usual, but this Hilton had numerous issues with the basics. First, cleanliness was a concern as there was an old soap bar in the shower. Then when I went to dry my hands, the entire hand towel bar fell right off the wall, a problematic safety concern for my small children. Next, there was no hot mater for the duration of our stay. Thinking that perhaps it just took awhile to heat up, and having two exhausted little ones, we went to sleep and figured we’d shower in the morning. Unfortunately, in the morning, there was no hot water either. Typically, I’ve received vouchers for breakfast at other Hilton locations, but we were charged full price for a very basic continental breakfast in the morning. We then inquired about the pool and were told it was closed. Then we tried to use the shower again, and the hot water issue lingered. We complained and asked if there was another Hilton we could relocate to, and were told no. We asked if we could end our stay earlier than anticipated due to lack of BASIC amenities. We asked how we would be compensated and Nubia told us we would receive follow up with upper management. Our compensation for a stay that the equivalence of $20 (5,000 Hilton points) on a $162 stay. We had to pay a Uber for more than that to relocate to another hotel with the basic amenities one would expect for a fraction of the cost of our stay in our unclean, unsafe, and unhygienic Hilton Garden experience. I escalated the matter, and weeks later, the corporate guest relations specialist, Cynthia McClary determined that we received fair compensation and closed our guest service ticket. I want to caution anyone staying here that this is a slum lord hotel that does not remotely meet the standard of what you’d expect at Hilton hotel, and the treatment I received from a so-called Customer Service representative gives me cause to never stay at a Hilton again. Their membership program is bogus with few real benefits, so I’m glad their true colors became apparent during...
Read moreThe room was nice enough. It was spacious and served our needs. Apart from having no bedding for our 3rd person that slept on the fold out bed, the room was fine. Everything else was pretty bad.
We were in town for a funeral. The plan was to check in, get changed and go. We got there at about 3:15 and there was a line at check in. One girl working the desk. Once it's our turn, the room wasn't ready. Took about 20-30 mins for them to clean. Not a huge deal, but annoying.
As we are coming back that night, I notice all the cars in the parking lot had little orange tag thingies in their windows. I didn't have a little orange tag thingy. So I go to the front desk and ask if I need one. Yes, I have to have a parking pass so my car doesn't get towed! Would have been nice to have been told that at the beginning! But... fine. Crisis averted, just give me a pass so I can not get towed. But wait! They charge for parking!!! $20? I think. $25? Somewhere in there. By that time, I'm so tired and so pissed off, I just paid it. What choice do I have? Being charged to park at a hotel I just paid for seems outrageous to me.
We were going to eat dinner at the hotel that evening. That was the plan. That night, with no explanation, the restaurant was closed. Just that night. When we made our reservation, we paid for breakfast. Of course, the next morning, we get told we aren't on some list that shows we paid. So my wife has to go figure out what's going on. Finally, she found the email that confirmed we paid, and they gave us tickets for breakfast that I assume we should have been given from the start. Now, we are clear to eat! To say that this "breakfast" was less than adequate would be an insult to the word adequate. I offered my son to use my eggs to help cool down the milk he drank with his french toast sticks. There wasn't any syrup available for said french toast sticks though. It was terrible! The food was ICE cold. The milk was warm. If you go, just plan on having toast and cereal. Don't expect anything hot, much less luke warm.
I highly DO NOT recommend. This hotel is in a "mall" of other hotels. They all share a big parking lot. Pick any...
Read moreI stayed here last week went to breakfast. My boyfriend and I were eating when two younger kids sat next to us. (No big deal right) went to the restroom came back now there are 5 guys. (No big deal) they ask if they can just get a side of bacon and they are told no they would need to pay for the whole buffet. So the boys get up and leave. As they are walking out an older woman from the restaurant. Who was clearing tables and taking orders approaches my boyfriend and I. She says and I quote, "Do you guys like those guys? I don't these guys aren't good guys.!" I'm actually in shock I don't say anything. My boyfriend I think is taken back a little but maybe not as much as me and he laughs her off. However she takes the laugh as a go on. And she says "ya know we have to protect our customers and those guys were just not good guys. They are not even guest here" Now my boyfriend and I are both mixed we have fair skin curly hair but we both have a black parent 😑. I'm pretty sure the complexion of our skin made her feel like she could come over and say that and maybe we would agree. However it made myself and my boyfriend VERY uncomfortable to stay. Those boys never were disrespectful to her never said anything offensive. They all had on clean clothes and 2 of the 5 boys actually were guest at the hotel because I kept seeing them. The only exchange of conversation was the price for a side order of bacon. We were there for 4 days that happen the first morning. I didn't tip that lady she actually told me I could leave her a tip but I kept walking on her we normally tip great. But I refused to tip someone who would generalize a group of KIDS(16 and younger) as not being good guys. But the Hilton employed her and therefore I would never go back to any Hilton. Complete waste of money ! And if someone reads this from Hilton it was an older Hispanic lady with...
