A Time Capsule of Flavor at New China Tea - A Chicago Gem! New China Tea has been a staple in my life for years, and each visit feels like stepping into a time capsule of cherished memories. This local Chicago Chinese restaurant has been a constant source of comfort, whether it's for takeout, delivery, or enjoying a cozy meal in their welcoming establishment. The vibe of New China Tea is a delightful blend of nostalgia and authenticity. The interior exudes a timeless charm, with hints of classic Chinese decor that transport you to a place where the essence of the restaurant's history is palpable. It's more than just a dining spot; it's a comforting space that has witnessed countless meals shared and memories created. Having explored the menu extensively over the years, I can confidently say that New China Tea has mastered the art of Chinese cuisine. From the vast array of options, a few dishes have become my all-time favorites. The General Tso's Chicken is a standout, perfectly balancing crispy, succulent chicken with a sweet and tangy sauce that leaves a lasting impression. The Beef Lo Mein is a comforting noodle dish with a rich medley of flavors and textures, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients. And let's not forget the Beef Fried Rice, an absolute classic done to perfection. The fragrant rice, tender beef, and assorted vegetables come together harmoniously, creating a dish that satisfies every craving. Consistency is key at New China Tea; each dish is a testament to the dedication of the chefs to deliver an authentic and memorable dining experience. The portions are generous, the flavors are bold, and the quality is unwavering. The staff, with their warm smiles and efficient service, add to the overall positive atmosphere. I dined in with a friend and it was our first time here. We both ordered from their Combination Special Lunch Plate Menu.

I ordered the Kung Po Chicken, which included an egg roll and choice of steamed white rice, fried rice, or noodles. I chose the fried rice and my friend had the General Tso's Chicken with fried rice. I will leave it to him to review his own dish should he so choose.

The server brought the egg rolls in advance of serving our entrees and rice. They were piping hot, the hottest I've ever experienced. The outer crust was crispy, not soft and greasy as many of my prior experiences elsewhere have often been. The inside was chock full of tasty ingredients.

We also had their hot and sour soup, which was quite good. It was a nice sized portion for the price and had an abundance of stock.

When our main dishes arrived, they were piping hot and exceptionally generous servings, both in terms of the entree portions and the rice.

My Kung Po Chicken had plenty of chicken along with other ingredients. It was flavorfully seasoned, and spicy, just as their menu indicated. The fried rice was also good. Complimentary hot tea was also provided, which we enjoyed as well.

All this for $9.15 per plate. [Note their online menu showed $10.95, but it was actually $9.15. Even at $10.95 it would have been a good value, but at $9.15 it was a great value, the best I've experienced in quite awhile.]

This was our first time here and likely not our last. It is real close to Midway Airport, which makes it handy when traveling in/out of town.

The service was friendly and efficient, and things were served up in a timely fashion. I highly recommend you giving it a try. If you do, and you don't find it as good as another place you've been, please comment so I can give your reccomendation a try, as I'm always up for exceptional Chinese cuisine.

Well done, New China Tea! Looking forward to...

I have been coming to this place w my family for over 25 years. So i order the same thing everytime the sweet and sour chicken lunch special. I order it all the time at they know who i am from always ordering the same thing. I always order it later in the evening and they say its extra because its not lunch time and i always pay it no problem. So tonight i meet my family there to dine in. I order the sweet and sour chicken lunch special they say i cant order it. I say what are you talking about i order it all the time. So i go to the owner and say hey whats the deal, his response is u can only get it to go. I said do u realize how stupid that is especially when u have only one customer in here. So piss off a customer who is willing to spend money by saying u cant make it especially when i get it all the time!! I will never eat here again!! Lost a long time loyal paying customer because...

I come here often enough that I noticed the police and detectives come here. It might be antidotal, but they come here because the food is good, consistent quality, and the service is usually prompt and pleasant just as I have discovered. Tasty Hot and Sour soup, the pot stickers are thick and fully filled, the entree portions are always generous and easily shareable with a small group. I'm not sure about the dessert offerings, but good luck getting there after your entree!

I was the last to order and they took over an hour to deliver my order. My noodles arrived burnt , from top to the bottom completely unacceptable. Highly advise avoiding this restaurant. Plus by the time I received my items I was unable to call the restaurant because they were closed so I couldn't address this issue with them.
